Most of the threads for DE are actually in the Eldar section, rather than the Other Armies section.
Moscovian's review is probably the single best source of tactical info:
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=20093There are some 1000 point Kabal of Pain lists that were built for
MinigeddonI have to admit I actually prefer the EpicUK version of the list (available
here) to the Raiders 2.0 version. It includes a lot of the fluff and new unit changes from the 2010 5th ed DE codex for 40k and cleans up the list structure so that formations are a little less grab bag. On the downside it did remove a few of the unique Raiders units, like the Tormentor and Kashnarak.
I haven't played the list myself, largely for lack of miniatures, but now that Onslaught is taking care of that issue, I expect that I'll probably try to make them one of my primary lists.
I'll probably start with this 1000 point "detachment", using the EpicUK list, with the idea of using this for Minigeddon level games.
Code:
## Base Kabal (1000) ##
Kabal Coterie (300)
- 3 Incubi
- 1 Incubi w/Archon
- 4 Venom
Kabal Flotilla (225)
- 4 Ravager
Kabal Flotilla (225)
- 4 Ravager
Heavy Barge (250)
- Vessel of Pain
That gives me plenty of anti-armor backed up by a decent engage unit with plenty of FF Support potential.
The second Minigeddon "detachment" I'll try will be this, with the idea that I can swap out the Incubi for warriors and turn the extra Coterie into another Kabal Syndicate and have a 2000 point force.
Code:
## Syndicates (1000) ##
Kabal Coterie (250)
- 3 Incubi
- 1 Incubi w/Archon
- 2 Raider
- 1 Ravager
Kabal Syndicate #1 (250)
- 6 Warrior
- 3 Raider
- 1 Ravager
Reavers (250)
- 5 Reaver
- 1 Reaver w/Succubus
Reavers (250)
- 5 Reaver
- 1 Reaver w/Succubus
Two very fast CC engage units, backed up by some more FF Support units. As a stand alone list, it'd probably be hard to use well, and would depend on getting the coordination just right. Though a 3 unit Coordinated Assault should wreck anything it hits but good. As part of a 2000 list, this gives me some super fast late game objective takers and some anti-infantry to backup the somewhat anti-armor heavy nature of the first 1000 points.
Then, to take things to a "proper" 3000 point tournament army, I can load at least two formations of air craft for CAP and a Wraithgate. Then probably another Heavy Barge formation, and maybe some upgrades on the Coterie to give it some engagement staying power. Alternately, I might try a few formations of Mandrakes or Hellions. One thing I like about the DE list and the EpicUK version in particular is that a lot of the formations are all the same price, making it easy to swap a few in and out to see what works best for me.
