Turn 2 Summary & End Phase

Centre flank:

Howling Banshees charge into combat with devastating effects - 3 stands of Assault Stands are reduced to mush by their horrifying psychic scream! A second assault unit pushes forward to confront the Howling Banshees next turn but in doing so sacrifice their chance to continue looting.

Deep in Eldar territory, Rhinos drive forward, managing to put an end to the Doomweavers' suppression of the centre of the battlefield.

Turn 2 Summary & End Phase

Right flank:

Striking Scorpions continue to cut their bloody swathe through the unfortunate Tactical Troops, securing a mine in the process. The Tactical troops find themselves closest to the Warlock and are able to pick him off with bolter fire.

It is at this stage that the realisation sinks in that the Eldar are missing a Falcon Host! They enter at the rear of the board ready to join the battle for turn 3...

Marines: 14 VPs
Eldar: 10 VPs

Right Flank:

Fortunately for the Eldar, despite taking losses, the Falcon Host hangs on by a thread. The Marines' Warhound also takes a battering, suffering heavy damage to the head, but is still standing... Frustratingly for both sides victory is only one point away!!!

Marines: 34 VPs
Eldar: 34 VPs

Turn 4 Summary & End Phase

Centre Flank:

More desperate scrabbling for objectives leads to more stalemate - and no further VPs gained from looting. Marines break the Grav Tank Host and their Warhounds continue to hang on... Could the game be up for the Eldar?

Right Flank:

No! The Marine player forgets to order his Tactical Marines! This means that last mine will not be contested! The Eldar player receives 2 more points to take him over the threshold!

It's a draw!!!

Marines: 40 VPs
Eldar: 36 VPs

Thoughts on the battle: The mining scenario went more smoothly than I had anticipated and I was pleasantly surprised that my scenario didn't ruin the game! We both had a lot of fun trying to keep our objectives clear of enemy units and we also enjoyed the fact that the victory points gained from the mines/objective markers built up rather than simply changing hands. The overall effect seemed to be that the game is unlikely to be won in the first two turns.

The main modification I'm planning to make is to the "gerrorf my land" optional rule. If this is implemented, 3 VPs per turn should be awarded for the looting of the mines. This is because actually capturing and keeping objectives clear of enemy units is incredibly difficult!

Apologies that this report isn't as incident-packed as previous reports but this is entirely down to the fact that there were much fewer units involved in the battle than was the case in previous reports. Also, I failed to take enough "action shots" to liven up things and some other pics seemed to go astray when uploading...

Next time!! Cheers to everyone who took the time to read this!

is the river gamescraft?

Ahh I like those doomweavers :)

Hi Ulrich,
The river is scratch-built. I just bought blue card from the art shop and then cut it up into irregular shapes. That's flattering that you thought it was professional!

Cheers!
