Sixth and final (!) game with the Dagon 'Nids, this time with Argol playing Hive Fleet Dagon and me playing DKoK.

This time the Tyranids was a dedicated second-turn list, with very few activations on the first turn, and with roughly half of the list appearing thereafter. We especially wanted to try playing with lots of Lictors, which are restricted to a maximum of 2 in the Army in the original F-ERC list (this particular cap has been removed in Hive Fleet Dagon).

The DKoK list was themed around fortifications and trenches, with only the HQ regiment riding Gorgons. At first I had thought to take a Deathstrike Silo, but after reading the stats it seems it must fire both its Missiles at once, and can't fire them one at a time (they are both 2 shots off the same weapon, instead of 2 separate weapons of the same type. A strict reading of the Single Shot rule states that any weapon with this special rule can only be fired once). Replaced it with some Bombards instead.

Turn 2, Activation 6, HFD: Lictors Engage the Hvy Mortars, only kills 1, leads by one, rolls 6 vs 2 and only the Commissar survives.

Turn 2, Activation 7, HFD Retain: Minor Warrior Swarm Engages the Quad Launchers, kills 2 for 2 Termagaunts, leads by 2, rolls 6 vs 6 and wipes out the Quad Launchers.

Turn 2, Activation 8, DKoK: Since things are not going too well, I decide to gamble. The Death Rider Scouts Engage the Nid BTS, manages to kill the Dagon Overlord with a First Strike attack, along with 2 Malefactors and 1 Zoanthrope. Nids makes no damage in return. 1 Zoanthrope survives and breaks.

Turn 2, Activation 9, DKoK Retain: Hvy AA that's trapped in the Lictor ZOC retains on a 4+ and Engages the Lictors. Kills 1, leads by 1 but rolls a double 1 and is instead wiped out.

Turn 2, Activation 10, HFD: Harridan Doubles and gives the Scout Death Riders 1 BM.

Turn 2, Activation 11, DKoK: Hvy AA attempts to Sustain fire at the Lictors, fails but shoots anyway, kills 1 and breaks them.

Turn 2, Activation 13, DKoK: The DKoK BTS Sustains Fire at the lone Zoanthrope from the Tyranid BTS and kills it DKoK is out of activations.

Turn 2, Activation 14, HFD: Tyranid spaceship arrives, bombs the broken Inf Comp, kills 6 and then 7 more from BMs. It also delivers a Mycetic Spore with a Major Drop Swarm, and gives the DKoK BTS 1 BM.

Turn 2, Activation 15, HFD: Raveners Engage the broken Inf Comp killing 3 for no damage in return, the Inf Comp is wiped out.

Turn 2, Activation 16, HFD: Major Drop Swarm Engages the DKoK BTS, trapping 10 Inf inside, 2 Damage on one Gorgon for 1 C, fight is even and Nids win by 1, the Gorgons breaks.

Turn 3, Activation 4, HFD: Minor Warrior Swarm attempts to retain to Engage the DKoK BTS, but fails to activate and moves.

Turn 3, Activation 5, DKoK: Thunderbolts uses the reroll to ground attack the Lictors, hits with everything, kills 2 and breaks them. DKoK is out of activations.

Turn 3, Activation 6, HFD: Lictors March.

Turn 3, Activation 7, HFD: Raveners March.

Turn 3, Activation 8, HFD: Minor Warrior Swarm Doubles.

Turn 3, Activation 9, HFD: Raveners Marshalls and moves.

Turn 3, Activation 10, HFD: Harridan Marches.

At this point both sides have 2 Objectives each, so the game keeps going into turn 4. The DKoK BTS fails to rally and can't escape being within 15cm of Tyranids so only the fearless Gorgon with the Commissar survives.

Turn 4, Activation 2, DKoK: Thunderbolts Ground Attacks the Minor Warrior Swarm, killing the last Synapse and 1 Termagaunt.

Turn 4, Activation 3, DKoK: Warhounds Advance and gives the Harridan 1 BM.

Turn 4, Activation 4, HFD: Raveners Engage the Warhounds very sneakily, makes 2 damage against none, leads by 4 and breaks the Warhounds, they move to block the Harridan.

Turn 4, Activation 5, DKoK: Death Rider Scouts Engage the Raveners, kills 3 against 1, and breaks them.

Turn 4, Activation 6, HFD: Harridan Engages the Death Riders, killing 1 and breaking them.

After this the Tyranids have won the game 2-1, but they eventually also finishes off the DKoK BTS and wins by 3-1.

Given how mangled I got in the second turn, I'm pretty proud I managed to draw it out to turn 4. Those Death Rider Scouts did better than the rest of the army put together. Had my dice been better I'm convinced this would have been a pretty even game.

Talking it over after the game we both agreed that Lictor Spam doesn't seem to be broken, as they have quite a few limitations that keeps them under control.
