Yet another TTS game against Norto, this time with him playing Craftworld Lugganath and me playing E-UK Skitarii. CW Lugganath v1.2b is very similar to v1.1, the only differences being 5+ Holofield on the Wraithknights as per Fir-Iolarion v4.2.6 and a hard limit of 3 formations in reserve for each Webway Portal in the army, like other Craftworld Eldar. Put two formations of Robots in garrison, while the Lugganathians can't garrison with anything. Eldar wins initiative, but hands over the first move to Skitarii. Turn 1, Activation 1, Skitarii: Minorus formation on the right advances and fires Plasma Destructor on Wraithknights. 1 DC lost, 2 BMs. Turn 1, Activation 2, Skitarii Retain: Minorus formation on the left advances and fires Plasma Destructor at Wraithguard formation, killing 1 Firestorm and 1 Wave Serpent. Turn 1, Activation 3, Eldar: Wraithguards marches into ruins. Turn 1, Activation 4, Skitarii: Paladin formation on the right doubles into the forest and fires at the Wraithknights, killing 1. Wraithknights breaks. Turn 1, Activation 5, Eldar: Dark Reapers doubles and prepares to fire at the Sentry formation, but the Sentries use their overwatch first, killing 1 Dark Reaper. With 2 BMs the Dark Reapers fail to kill anything. Turn 1, Activation 6, Skitarii: Skitarii BTS doubles and fires at the Dark Reapers, killing 1 Wave Serpent. Turn 1, Activation 7, Eldar: Hemlock Wraithfighters ground attack the Gorgon formation. The nearby Minoris with 3x Hydras scores three hits, killing 1 Hemlock. The surviving Hemlock fails to hit the Gorgon. Turn 1, Activation 8, Skitarii: Robot formation on the right renews their OW. Turn 1, Activation 9, Eldar: Guardian Warhost doubles and hides inside their Venoms behind the forest. Turn 1, Activation 10, Skitarii: Praetorians triples. Turn 1, Activation 11, Eldar: Second formation of Guardians + Venoms triples over the table and positions near the Minorus on the left. Guardians stay out this time. Turn 1, Activation 12, Skitarii: Gorgon formation marches. Turn 1, Activation 13, Eldar: Harlequin Jetbike formation doubles (move fire moves) out of the Wraithgate, firing at the Gorgon. The Prismatic Cannons misses the Gorgon, but the Shuriken Cannons kills 1 Hypaspist. Turn 1, Activation 14, Skitarii: Paladins on the right flank decides that the left flank is in trouble. They triple across the table to reinforce it. Skitarii are out of activations. Turn 1, Activation 15, Eldar: Nightwings attack the Gorgon formation, killing 2 Hypaspists. Turn 1, Activation 16, Eldar: The Harlequin BTS triples out of the Wraithgate (Harlequins are not affected by, and don't count for the 1-per-turn limit of Webway Portals) and stays loaded. Turn 1, Activation 17, Eldar: The third and last formation of Guardians triples out of the Wraithgate, staying aboard their Venoms. Start of turn 2. Things are balancing on a Knife's edge, with the Lugganathians being set up to punch in so many places that they save their Avatar for turn 3. Unfortunately for the Eldar, the Skitarii wins initiative. Turn 2, Activation 1, Skitarii: The Minorus formation on the left advances and fires on the Guardians that has set up on their left. Three Guardians are killed. Turn 2, Activation 2, Skitarii Retain: Robots attempt to sustain at Harlequin BTS, fails to activate, but fires anyway. No casualties, but 1 BM on the Harlequins. Turn 2, Activation 3, Eldar: Harlequin BTS engage the robots, killing all with two Harequins in returrn, the Praetorian formation gets a BM. Turn 2, Activation 4, Eldar Farseer Retain: Guardians retain initiative and engage the fearless Praetorians. Praetorians save a bunch of hits, only losing 1 even with all the support from the Harlequins. Three dead Guardians in return, giving CWL a lead in the fight by 1. Praetorians loses the fight and breaks, but uses their double move to shield the Skitarii BTS. Turn 2, Activation 5, Eldar Retain: Dark Reapers Sustains Fire at the broken Praetorians, killing 2, with 2 remaining. Turn 2, Activation 6, Skitarii: Paladins advance and fires at Harlequin Jetbikes, killing 2. Turn 2, Activation 7, Eldar: Lugganath Wraithguards doubles and fires their D-Scythes at the Praetorians. 1 TK hit saved with Invulnerable Save, no kills. Turn 2, Activation 8, Skitarii: Gorgon formation doubles using the Supreme Commander reroll, firing its Single Shot Mortar at the Guardians behind the forest. Scores two hits, one of which kills a Venom along with the Farseer in it. Turn 2, Activation 9, Eldar: Harlequin Jetbikes engages the Gorgon formation. 1 Voidweaver killed for 1 Hypaspist. Skitarii wins combat by 5, wiping out the Harlequins. Turn 2, Activation 10, Skitarii: Skitarii BTS decides to Sustain Fire at the Wraithguards right in front of them, using every single weapon they've got, killing 2 Wraithguards and 1 Wave Serpent. Turn 2, Activation 11, Eldar: Wraithknights doubles and fires at the Gorgon. 1 hit, 1 save, 1 BM Turn 2, Activation 12, Skitarii: Paladins doubles and fires at Guardians by the pyramid. 2 Venoms killed, Guardians break. Turn 2, Activation 13, Eldar: The lone Hemlock braves 3 BMs and attacks the Gorgon with its Heavy D-Scythe, giving it 1 damage. Turn 2, Activation 14, Skitarii: Robots on the left renews their OW for the second turn in a row. Not much going on where they're at. Turn 2, Activation 15, Eldar: Nightwings fails to activate. Turn 2, Activation 16, Skitarii: Minorus formation on the left marches. Turn 2, Activation 15, Eldar: Guardians fails to activate, using up the Supreme Commander re-roll in the process. They remove BMs instead. Start of turn 3. Yet again the Lugganathians are set up for several engages. The Avatar is summoned between the Dark Reapers and the Guardians on the left. Unfortunately for the Eldar (but fortunately for Skitarii), they lose the initiative for the second turn in a row... Turn 3, Activation 1, Skitarii: Minoruses on the left advance and fires at Harlequins, killing 1 Venom. Turn 3, Activation 2, Skitarii Retain: Paladins engages the Harlequin BTS and entangles the Avatar. Kills 2 Venoms for 1 damage in return. They win combat by 5, crippling the Harlequins, and breaking them. The remaining Venom and Death Jester flee to the far left corner of the table. Turn 3, Activation 3, Eldar: The Venom formation engages the Gorgon formation with the help of the Wraithknights. The Gorgon formation is wiped out for no damage in return. Turn 3, Activation 4, Eldar Retain: Wraithknights engages the Paladins, takes 2 damage and a crit from First Strike attack. One Paladin is critted in return, but the Wraithknights are wiped out. Turn 3, Activation 5, Eldar Retain 2: Dark Reapers engage the Paladins. 1 Dark Reaper killed by First Strike, 1 damage on a Paladin, and the Eldar Autarch is killed. The fight is completely even, but the Paladins roll double 1 against 6 for the Lugganathians! Paladins breaks and suffers 5 damage... Turn 3, Activation 6, Skitarii: The Minoruses on the right doubles up to the Blitz and fires at the two broken survivors of the Harlequin BTS. The Plasma Destroyer scores a single hit, and the Harlequin Venom's 5+ Holofield fails to save it. The Eldar BTS is destroyed. Turn 3, Activation 7, Eldar: Guardians attempts to Marshall, fails and removes their BMs instead. Turn 3, Activation 8, Skitarii: Skitarii BTS egages the Guardians, killing 3 for 1 in return. The Guardians loses the combat and are wiped out. Turn 3, Activation 9, Eldar: Hemlock Wraithfighter fails to activate. Turn 3, Activation 10, Skitarii: Robots on the right decides to actually do something. They march and capture another objective. Turn 3, Activation 11, Eldar: Nightwings also fail to activate. Battle ends with a win for Skitarii with 3 objectives: BTS, They Shall Not Pass and Defend The Flag. |

Some nasty dice and back luck for Norto pretty much decided this game. Losing the initiative rolls in both turn 2 and 3 hurt quite a lot. But the Skitarii formations proved really durable as well. The Praetorian formation in particular soaked a ridiculous amount of fire, and effectively shielded the Skitarii BTS from being engaged. I'm personally quite happy with how the Lugganath army list played, and I think the Harlequin formations in particular felt about right... The ability to use the same gate multiple times in a turn is of course extremely powerful, but then again the Harlequins are limited to 1 for each 2 Warhosts, and they're quite expensive, so it's hard to spam them. The version of Wraithknight tested are awesome for supporting engages, but they feel a bit too weak against shooting. Perhaps a 5++ save in addition to the 5+ Holofield would be good. The Wraithknights and the Hemlock Wraithfighter are really cool, but perhaps they're a bit weak overall? Then again, they can do some real damage with their TK D-Scythes given half a chance. |

Gotta agree with Mrdiealot with the wraith knights armour. Might need some more games to be sure. The wraithcannons seams easily the best choice with all the macro and FF macro. This could be to good with the armour going up. Was also a shitty game for dice this one but i feel it had the potential to do alot of damage just didnt punch through anything. Hemlocks seams great, Harlequins seam fine. Going to try and give gingers harlequins a good next and see how they preform for comparison. Also gona try and get to trying out the storm serpents in the lugganath list. |
