Me and Norto had another Vassal game trying out some NDC suggestions for orks.

The ones we tried out was:

Fixed fire arc for Fighter-Bomba weapons.
Stompas in stompa mob going to 4-8-12 from current 3-6-9.

I place my objectives 30cm apart right over the centerline. Norto placed his similar put 30cm towards my deployment zone.

TURN 1: Orks win initiative.

O1.1: fighter-bombas ground attacks deathstrikes for 1BM after 2 planes get shot down by hydra AA.
O1.2: Fighter-bombas retains and ground attacks deathstrikes again killing 1 and breaks the formation. Another 2 planes are shot down by Hydra AA (damn!)
SL1.1: Manticores sustains on blitz brigade killing 2 flak wagons and 2 gun wagons breaking the formation.
SL1.2: Manticore retain and sustains on now broken blitz brigade wiping it out (oh great start for the orks!)
O1.3: Stompa Mob doubles forward.
SL1.3: Sentinels gos on OW.
O1.4: Stompa Mob doubles forward.
SL1.4: Sentinels marches into ruins and ZoC:s stompa mob.

TURN 2: Steel legion wins initiative.

SL2.1: Deathstrikes sustain on BTS-Stompa Mob destroying the Supa-stompa and breaks the formation.
SL2.2: Mech Co retains and engages stompa mob my center hill killing 1 stompa and doing 1DC on Supa-Stompa. The Orks kills 2 chimeras and 2 stands in return and manages to win the combat by 1! (waaaaagh!)
O2.1: Same victorious stompa mob doubles and fires on the now broken mech Co (Payback time ummies!) killing heaps of stuff.
SL2.3: Manticores Holds and clears BM:s.
O2.2: Stompa mob doubles up on hill and fires on nearby warhound doing 2 DC and breaks it.
SL2.4: MAnticores holds and clears BM:s.
O2.3: Fighter-Bombas ground attacks broken Mech Co killing 1 chimera due to BM:s.
SL2.5: Inf Co in ruins goes on OW.
O2.4: Landa with stormboyz air assaults sentinels by SL blitz. After 2 rounds of combat the sentinels are wiped out for no ork losses.
SL2.6: Warhound doubles to ork blitz firing on broken BTS-Stompa MOb killing 3 stompas.
O2.5: Land with stormboyz air assaults manticores by SL blitz (stormboyz stays inside landa) killing 2 for no losses and wins the combat.
SL2.7: Thunderbolts fails to activate

TURN 3: Steel Legion wins initiative.

SL3.1: Warhound doubles back to SL blitz and fires on stormboyz killing 2 (3BM).
SL3.2: Manticores tries to retain but holds instead. They fire on stormboyz and manages to kill 4 and breaks the formation!
O3.1: Fighter-bombas ground attacks deathstrikes wiping them out.
SL3.3: Thunderbolts ground attacks Stompa Mob for 1BM.
O3.2: Same Stompa MOb doubles back towards the Ork blitz to contest it and fires on warhound stripping 2 shields and doing 1DC (2BM).
O3.3: Empty landa retains and ground attacks same warhound destroying it for no losses.
SL3.4: Thunderbolts ground attacks lone broken stormboy stand wiping the formation out.
O3.4: Stompa MOb advances to claim both T&H objectives and fires on inf co in ruins killing 3 stands (5BM).
SL3.5: Same Info Co marches to contest the T&H objectives the stompa mob just secured.
SL3.6: Reg HQ marches back to ruins where Inf Co where just hiding.

TURN 4: Orks Win initiative.

O4.1: Stompa Mob by ork blitz doubles to contest both the blitz and 1 T&H objective for the steel legion. They fire on just ralled Mech Co killing 2 chimeras and 1 stand breaking the formation.
04.2: Stompa Mob on central hill retains and engages Inf Co in front of them killing 5 stands for no losses and wins the combat (waaagh!)
SL4.1: Thunderbolts goes on CAP.
O4.3: Fighter-Bombas ground attacks warhound stripping 1 shield (1BM). Thunderbolts intercepts and shoots down 1 plane.
SL4.2: Warhound doubles to middle of the board and fires on stompa Mob for 1BM.
O4.4: Empty landa air assaults same warhound destroying it for no losses.
SL4.3: Thunderbolts fails to activate.
O4.5: Landa tries to ground attack manticores but get shot down with a crit from hydra fire (does hydras was really doing their job this game!!)
SL4.4: Manticores marches to SL blitz with the help of the SC reroll.
O4.6: Stormboyz holds and clears BM:s.
SL4.5: Req HQ doubles and contests both 1 T&H objective for the orks and 1 DtF objecitve.

END PHASE:

Inf co rallies.
Manticores fails to rally.
Mech Co fails to rally.

Steel legion has 1 (BTS) and the Orks have 0 objectives.

Orks wins a major draw with 1775-1460 points.

My thoughts:

A very bloody game. I thought i was done for after the start of the first turn loosing 4 fighter-bombas and a whole blitz brigade right off the bat.
But luckily my stompa mob survived a crucial assault and then the tide started to turn. I really like the strategy of air assaulting with landas but not spilling their contents out. It's risky but works quite okay most of the times. You're mostly up +2 on combat rest due to outnumbering and double outnumbering when hitting small formations. Nothing new for most players i guess but i haven't used them in that way before.

On the NDC suggested changes i still feel that fixed forward arcs on fighter-bombas are so and so. They are easier to take out with intercepts now and cant do the most gamey positioning to avoid ground AA and still hit their targets. I'm not sure that nerf is needed for the ork list (since i consider it kinda weak compared to other) but it's desn't change the units perfomance that much either (i'm still gonna use them to do kamikaze missions breaking enemy artillery and AA formations).

The stompa change i still consider a very good one. This makes the stompa mob a viable choice in the list now. They're not fearless and don't rally easily when broken so i don't think the extra stompa makes the unit way better (here it went from 7 to 8 units when counting for rallying and combat resolution). Considering how few times i've seen stompa being used in tournaments before I'd welcome this change to the formation since it actually makes it viable to use. Of all the suggested ork changes this is the most solid one IMO.

This was the last battle to try out stompa changes. Now we will focus on trying out cheaper battle wagon upgrades in warbands. Theres about 6 weeks left of the testing period so we'll be able to try it out a few times.

Man this was a fun game, I really didnt know how to go about this, spread out from the super stromper macro death. stay together for the air assault mayhem.

I got pretty lucky in the first turn. I didnt really want to risk my BTS getting to close to the super stompers after what just 1 did in my game with the sisters. I ended up running around like a headless chook trying to probe somewhere. I think i should have been focusing on assaulting with the warhounds. We live and learn.

The stompas didn't seem to push the boundary of making me wonder if it was too good.
