Sorry Mark, Should have said it was the Tau Xar'Ka Armoured Strike.

The Xar'Shas'o is at a play-test cost of +75 points (Coordinated Fire and Re-Roll Init, and nothing else).
Bigger tank formations, slightly cheaper Railgun Hammerheads and Scorpionfish (converted up-gunned
Orca dropships, basically skimmers full of missiles).

Used the reduced price option for the Xar'Shas'o @75 points. Courageously put it on a single Scorpionfish.
Could be targeted by a spacecraft pinpoint attack, or pop-corn broken and then BMed to death. But wanted
the Coordinated Fire ability on the Init +1 formation. Light on scouting markerlights and hence also light on
coordinated fire in the force. Planning to use Scorpionfish markerlights if I run out of lighter formations.

Classically against the Necrons the Lance, MW fire and Crossfire options in the army were all useless in the AT role against living armour (NetEA style). Really hard to kill them, all targets effectively RA4+ no matter what you are shooting with.

The Defence Turrets are an unexpected (minor) performer - and have been in every game.
Armour 5+, Light Vehicle, Immobile, typically 45 cm AP5+/AT6+, CC6+, FF5+. Four for 175 points. 0-1 formation.
So that stat line is a laugh as in weak. Fearless and Scout make it more interesting. Can't quite be ignored
and take a surprising amount of effort to be removed.

Tanks in the Mechanised Infantry formations were not super effective in this game. I thought the Mech Inf
formations underperformed - driving one into a tank firezone was not clever - but looking at the end of the game
they were all still there and holding ground. So actually not too bad. Hard to get to grips with the Necron infantry which were their primary target.

Scorpionfish were a mainstay - not surprising since the army/operation was designed around them.
Sub-Munition Guided Missiles were great at killing the enemy infantry in ruins but did not manage to wipe them out
and the little blighters just re-generated on a Marshal, . . .

Excellent report! Glad you like the Sautekh. lots of great synergies to work with the list though yeah the warriors aren't as powerful with the 5+ armour as opposed to the raiders list, not to mention the loss of phase out. Means you really have to plan your portal placement so they have places to escape to as they cant get off the board once they get on. The Ghost Arks are great for that objective holding attrition situation as the extra leaders means infantry will regenerate easily and your opponent will have to pour a lot of fire in to wipe them out to dislodge them. looking forward to reading more batreps in the future!
