G'day

Kendall and I managed a foray with his Emperors Children Vs my Siam Hann last weekend. Steve (beefcake4000) kindly heckled from the sideline and took the notes for this batrep.

Eldar sustain with night spinners kill 4/5 of the sup com marine unit, broken
Chaos chosen go on Overwatch
Eldar large wild rider clan advances in the middle of the table
Chaos helltallon bombers ground attack shining spears killing 2 and get a bonus bm onto the Hornet unit.
Eldar shining spears Marshall clearing blasties and advancing
Chaos predators (left) advance
Eldar smaller wildrider double into no mans land
Chaos hell scourges double and killed 4 wildriders in the middle of the table
Eldar scout bikes advance to investigate the corpses of the wild rider units in the middle of the board.
Chaos subjugator titan advances and kills a scout with its battle cannon
Eldar night spinners sustain and put 2 blasties on hell scourges.
Chaos player thinks about it
Chaos bikes triple into the Eldar back field.
Eldar revenants double forwards and snipe the chaos sup com to claim the BTS
Eldar retain and faff around bringing swords of vaul with fire storms up to cover the revenants
Chaos double with Marine unit in rhinos and kill a falcon
Chaos do ground attack with thunder hawk against falcon unit but miss

Rally phase - large wildriders fail to rally with sup com reroll. All other units clear blasties
Chaos scourges fail to clear blasties

Turn 2
Eldar pull dirty Eldar trick no 5. Summon avatar, win initiative, combined assault on the chaos bikers with the avatar and bikes combining. Bikes skim and avatar slaughters all before him. Chaos bikes lose by 1 and are broken
Eldar retain revenants sustain and eviscerate the central chaos marine unit, broken remnants flee for the board edge
Chaos predators advance and kill 2 Falcons, breaking them.
Chaos retain and engage scout bikes with hell scourges. Scout bikes are wiped out.
Eldar advance with hornet unit causing crossfire on scourges killing 1 and breaking the formation.
Chaos predators advance and kill 1 hornet.
Eldar shining spears engage the chaos predators. Overwatch fire puts a blastie on the shining spears. Chaos predators are .
Chaos marines activate hell tallon bombers and break night spinners, killing 1
Eldar other night spinner unit sustains on the remaining chaos predators killing 1
Chaos Subjugator titan advances and kills a hornet with its battle cannons
Eldar Phoenix bombers ground attack subjugator titan taking a single DC
Chaos ground assault with thunder hawk full of marines WIPES THE SECOND NIGHT SPINNER UNIT FROM THE BOARD!

Rally phase
Eldar large wild riders rally, as do hornets and night spinners. Falcons fail to rally.
Chaos - hell scourges rally and other formations clear blasties.

Eldar win initiative for the third time in a row. Chaos player takes it well

Game is called. Clear Eldar victory. Speed would ensure they capture most/all objectives[] with the EC BTS already in the bag.

Thoughts on the Siam Hann
This was my first outing with the Siam Hann list in it's current form. I enjoyed using it and the speed of the army offers a lot of tactical options. However it feels pretty balanced that despite Kenny loosing the strategy roll all three turns he still was able to apply plenty of pressure which saw eldar formations being broken and destroyed. The scout jetbikes are good and fit well into the army over rangers or war walkers. The hornets preformed pretty well in the game however I would actually consider having their pulsar exactly the same as the falcons, though this is no big issue.
I do visualise large terrain piece's being a problem for Siam Hann as not much in the army can safely enter it without taking rolls, is it worth considering walker for the scout jetbikes. But in saying all this I think the list is balanced and plays to the theme of Siam Hann.

Thanks for the report.

I find it interesting your comment on terrain as when I looked at the initial photographs I was thinking that the table looked a little bear with limited hiding/screening options.

Hi Tim, I thought the standard for terrain was 3-4 pieces per quater which is what we had. Anyway in saying that we mix up the table builds a bit so no one list gains to much advantage from game to game. I just thought I'd raise the point the with the Siam Hann list very little could safely enter area terrain, it's not a big issue though and doesn't effect the balance of the list IMHO.
