After having staged the initial assault on the imperial Titan forge world, the Eldar forces had secured a forward staging area to land more advanced weaponry, the ripples in the warp indicated a large incoming object, with a myriad of spectral fracture and eruption of light the fabric of the warp sheared into a liquid, the wind churned in a torrid gust as the sleek and graceful soul driven Titans of the Eldar emerged from the established gates at the forward post, one after the other they took their rightful place in the formation, the setting sun gleaming off immaculate forms. The time was near, the weaving of the fate strands indicated to the seers the time was right to strike. As quick as they had arrived, they glided onward with the suns at their back pushing deep into the Titan home world purposeful and focused.

Reports crackled of the Imperial radio waves of a Xenos force moving in from the west, alerts were sent out to the imperial commissars in the local sectors. Titans we mustered into a battle group with the the little air support that was on hand. The ground shook under the mighty weight of imperial amour moving to spearhead the threat, lead by a seasoned Warlord commander the fearsome quake canons started to whir under the heaving mechanical monster, the buzzing of spotters could be seen scouting ahead looking for signs of the reported threat, the stage was set, there could be only one victor.

Set up

(sorry about this poor photo, silly phone camera)

Image

Turn One

The strands of fate and time are woven and manipulated by the seer, and the Eldar win the strategy roll, The towering destroyers move forward into the ruins and unleash there weapons on the robots, destroying 2 and taking a blast maker from the overwatch fire.

The Bright stallions retain the initiative and press the advantage on the flank pushing into the ruins ahead and cleaning up the remaining robots.

Image

Enraged by the destruction of his small cybernetic friends the lone scout titan ignores all sense of self preservation in pursuit of revenge and pushes forward into the ruins, with a keen eyes and facing into the sun he takes careful aim to pick a target amongst the maze of rubble and debris, he steadies himself and releases wrath upon the gallant stallions killing one with a critical head shot!

Image

On the other flank the wraithlords double forward into the ruins and take fire at the entrenched robots killing one and taking a blast maker from the returning overwatch fire, the call is made to the birds of prey circling over head and a Vampire swoops in with the robots in his sight, the Imperials respond with a thunderbolt intercept weaving amongst the AA coverage to face the sky terror head on, and a hit is scored! wounding the fearsome terror, but he unleashes and destroys the remaining robots with acrobat grace and precision before flying off the back table edge to resume his covering pattern above.

Image

The second aerial predator is call upon to drop his pay load on the the solitary warhound, he vectors into position and lines up the unsuspecting prey when out of the clouds bearing down on him come 2 thunderbolts, he banks left but it is to late they have him dead to rights and open up with a hail of fire and brimstone decimating the vampire before he can react.

Image

(please let us take a moments silence for this mighty warbird and his ill fated demise)

Over the battlefield the fight raged on, barrage after barrage pounding the nimble titans and the exchange of fire back and forth, no major losses were taken by the end of turn one. The Eldar had an aggressive agenda on there minds pushing deep into the Imperial lines things on the left flank were heating up the agile Eldar setting to pounce on turn 2, the Imperial not backing down meet them face to face.

Image

and out on the right flank the Warlord takes care of the rest of the stallions and sends one fleeing into the woods broken.

Image

End of turn casualties :

Eldar

1 x Vampire
2 x Stallions

Imperial

8 x Robots
3 x Thunderbolts.

Turn Two

Through the haze of the light and fog of war the Eldar commander spots the Enemy leader, seizing the initiative he commands his to escorting revenants to take down the warhounds as he pushes forward to engage the warlord in close combat, the revenant commander offers to lay down suppressing fire onto the warlord for his brave leader but is ordered to deal with the warhounds, the Eldar Seer is confident in his majestic constructs might.

The revenants follower orders and sustain into the warhounds stripping shields and reducing them both to one DC each and breaking them, they decide to hold their position.

Imagehe the Supreme commander retains the initiative for a third time and lunges face first into the waiting warlord.

The two mighty monsters throw down and fight with the fury of the damned, the Imperial player rolled 12/12 hits!!!!!! the warlock latches onto the warlord with the fearsome powerfist and he takes 4 damage of which on is a critical reactor hit, combat resolution is rolled imperials a 6!! and Eldar a 3!!, the mighty warlord breaks the Warlock! (after calculations if indeed the eldar had put blast markers down first the fight would have been a draw and gone another round, which would likely have seen the outright demise of the warlord! garrgghhhh!)

The Imperial commander moves his titan out of assault range and lays a barrage of suppression down on the revenant and warlock.

Image

The reaver gets reports from his spotter that the revenants are tightly bunched in the ruins and relays their position for fire control, the reaver stands firm and fires a torrent of missles over the hill into the revenants putting 2 blastmakers on each.

With a damage wing the Vampire once again dives from the sky and locks onto the broken warhounds, with a full payload he opens fire in a firestorm of death, but with the ruins providing cover one one falls to the death from above.

Image

On the right flank the warlord sustains into the towering destroyers killing one and damaging another, enough to break them, the single scout titan moves behind the hill for cover and takes some shots at the revenant only laying a blast marker, seeing a opening the nightwings pulling behind the single warhound and attempt to strip some shields but only lay a blast marker, seeing the nightwings distracted the last thunderbolt uses this chance to strike and kills the lead nightwing, the imperial air force is on point today!
The last revenant after having spent the last turn regrouping feel his time in the fate strands is now and doubles forward to deal with the warhound threat, he locks onto the target and strikes with poise and accuracy dropping the shields and doing one point of damage to break him.

Image

End of turn overview.

Image

All Eldar units rally except for the towering destroyers.
All Imperials rally except the single warhound.

Casualty count at the end of turn :

Eldar

2 x Brightstallions
1 x Towering Destroyer
1 x Vampire
1 x Nightwing

Imperial

3 x Thunderbolts
8 x Robots
1 x Warhound pack ( 2 warhounds)

Turn Three

With the dark shrouding the Seers ability to read the strands of fate he mis reads and the initiative is won by the Imperials, the Warlord moves to cover the blitz objective and uses his massive range and fire power to suppress the 2 revenants in the ruins, the shear power of the incoming barrage breaks both of them and the move to block the Reaver from linking up with his commander.

Image
i
The reaver retains and lays down a storm of imperial missile cover on the revenant and wraithlords in the ruins, breaking the revenant who retreats to his blitz and puts 2 blastmakers on the wraithlords. The wraithlords move to form a net around the warlord on the right flank to prevent him marching to the blitz.

Image

The last thunder bolt gets orders to go onto C.A.P. to deter the Vampire from bearing down on the Supreme Commanders warlord, the Vampire knowing no fear starts is approach run on the warlords location, but suffers a engine malfunction and fails to activate his order.
The lone Stallion moves out of the forest to secure the right hand flank and alone hold he Imperial objective.

It all lay in the balance, the Eldar commander sees a a small window, the time to strike was now, to the bold comes victory and honour, the Warlock activates and surges forward onto the Enemy blitz and unleashes the fearsome power of the eldar technology at its peak, the D-canon draws upon the raw force of the warp focusing on the Warlords reactor, dice are rolled, it is two hits!, knowing the game lies in the balance on his last roll of the turn he needs a 5 or a 6 to do enough damage to down the mighty imperial defender......

it's a ....... 6!!!!

Image

With a reactor implosion and catastrophic meltdown the mighty Warlord falls to its knees giving the blitz objective and the Win!

Image

With the objectives secured the Eldar have fortified a new bastion within the Titans forgeworld, plans are being drawn to push deeper into the Imperials territory.

Conclusion

I had a lot of fun this game, I though at the start of this game it was going to be a pretty easy win for me to be honest, but the pure stamina of the imperial forces was hard to deal with, the barrage was a nightmare to deal with after the first turn, even though it wasn't killing a lot, the 2 bms per activation it laid down just kept my revenants broken all the time.
The imperial airforce has a stand out performance, i have a new respect for thunderbolts.
The Melee between the warlord and the warlock was a surprise, i really thought i was going to be a a shoe in to win that hands down, but the extra attacks from the lasbuner really made a difference.
The wraithlords were a last minute sub for what was meant to be a firegale knight troupe that i left at home ( I mean my craftworld), they really did bugger all the entire game, I think the fire gales would have been a bit more of a threat.
All in all a nice close and VERY fun game.

Great report Tim, yes I was surprised by how solid the Imperials turned out to be. If it wasn't for that last D-cannon shot, I might have actually had a chance! My Thunderbolts did amazing work, shooting down a Vampire and Nightwing, and damaging the other Vampire.

Also note the Quake cannon Warlord had the carapace multilasers.

Great to see the Eldar are also troubling the Imperial Titan Legions.

Super game report Tim. I'll have to get more in character for my next one, . . .

Will have to see whether the pop-corn AT of the local Tau forces can stem the tide!?
Initial deployments of Riptide suits indicate they may hold a solution to the problem.
An order has been placed with the homeworld for actual hardware. Counts as for now!!
