So further test game with the Iyanden. I modified my list to make it a bit more competitive IMO and took to the table against CAA again, this time facing his Thousand Sons. Turn 2 – Avatar & Terminators teleport near Warphound & WG(Mech) no BM’s SR to Thousand Sons 1. Terminators summon Greater Daemon & a Flamer – Engage WG(Mech) & smash them for no lose, 2 Wraithguard run away broken. 2. Warphound engages Avatar & Windriders – fails – takes BM & shoots Avatar for a BM 3. SoV advance and shoot Terminators – 9 hits, 1 dead Lesser Daemon, 1BM 4. Avatar engages Warphound – Avatar dies from supporting fire & crit. Warphound breaks with 1 wound, moves backwards and dies from failed Difficult Terrain Test…. 5. Windriders engage Warphound – Fail (SC-roll) fail take BM & run away from Terminators. 6. Defilers double and shoot SoV for a BM 7. SoV return the favour & Sustain on Defilers. 6 hits, 2 dead. Defilers break and retreat behind a hit. 8. Defilers sustain on Warwalkers 1 hit, saved, 1BM 9. Rangers regroup – fail and remove BM 10. Ret summons 3 lesser daemons & regroup – fail take BM and move. 11. Vampire Raider ground attacks the Terminators – CAPPED – Doomwings lose 1 to AA (2BM) 1 hit on VR saved. Greater Daemon takes a wound (BM) 12. Ret(SC) march – fail take BM & move forwards. 13. WG(SC) Overwatch 14. Doomwings intercept VR, lose 1 to AA (2BM) – 1 hit wounds (2BM) 15. Warwalkers regroup, advance & remove BM 16. Armoured Company doubles to shoot AoV – 1 BM 17. WG(BTS) double, shoot Defilers killing 2 and breaking them. They retreat behind cover. Fly offs – BM on Vampire Raider & both Doomwing formations lose a further plane & take 2 BM Rallies – Both Defilers & Warphound rally, SoV rally. No other formations rally.
Turn 3 – Swooping Hawks teleport behind WG(BTS) and pick up 3 BM – SR to Thousand Sons 1. Warphound doubles and shoots WG(BTS) – 3 dead Wave Serpents 4 BM 2. Retinue summon 4 Lesser Daemons & engage WG(BTS). Retinue lose 2 daemons & the Wraithguard break with 3 remaining WG. 3. SoV advance, fire on Armoured Company killing a Landraider – 2 BM 4. Armoured Company marshals – shoot SoV 1 hit, saved 1 BM & remove BM 5. War Walkers advance and shoot Retinue for a BM 6. Terminators double, greater daemon shoots Windriders 1 MW hit, 2 BM Windriders break & run away. 7. Vampire Raiders stands down 8. Defilers march to their Blitz 9. SoV double and shoot second Defilers killing both 10. Doomwings ground attack – fail and stand down 11. WG(SC) stay on Overwatch on Iyanden Blitz 12. Doomwings ground attack – fail and stand down 13. Rangers double, shoot Ret for 1 BM 14. Ret(SC) marshal, move forward and remove all BM Defilers & Retinue rally. SoV rallies. WG(Mech), Windriders, Swooping Hawks & WG(BTS) fail to rally. 1-0 to Iyanden (defend the flag)
Turn 4 – SR to Iyanden 1. SoV sustain on Armoured Company – destroys a Land Raider & Arm Comp breaks 2. War Walkers advance and shoot Warphound – 2 hits strip shields, 1 BM 3. Rangers sustain on Retinue killing 2 Thousand Sons 3 BM 4. Warphound advances – fails takes BM and shoots War Walkers 3 die and formation breaks. 5. Vampire Raider ground attacks Retinue killing a Rhino & breaking the formation. 6. Ret(SC) summon 2 lesser daemons engage the Rangers and wipe them out. 7. Doomwing ground attack SoV, AA misses & Doomwing misses 1BM each 8. WG(SC) Overwatch – fail & remove BM 9. Defilers advance, shoot SoV killing 2 Falcons and a Firestorm. SoV break and run forward. 10. Doomwings ground attack – fail and stand down 11. SoV Advance and fire on Ret(SC) killing a lesser daemon & 2 Rhinos (3BM) 12. Terminators advance - greater daemon shoots Windriders 1 MW hit, 2 BM 3 more dead Windriders.
Game finishes 0-0 and on points count back there are 10 pts difference between the sides a good draw.
We both failed lots of activations and if the Iyanden had managed to engage the Warphound at the end of turn one things might have been a bit different.
List is fine for approval.
