Battlereport 3000pts - Titan Legions vs DKOK version 1.2

DKOK – played by me, Partisan_Nick. I "only" two Infantry Companies due to the increased points cost left room for more support. By and large the list feels more balanced to build from now.

• Detahstrikes fire, one hit but only strip 3 shields from the BTS-Reaver (!)
• BTS-Reaver marshal and regain all shields, singles forward
• Mortars fail to activate – marshal away the BM they gained
• Crusader robots on the right double forward
• DKOK Thunderbolts on CAP
• Wraith Guard in Wave serpents double
• Crusaders on the right doubles
• Erathshakers fail to activate – marshal away the BM they gained
• AMTL Warhound doubles
• Death Rider scouts fail to activate (!) – Use the RE-ROLL – Triples forward
• AMTL Thunderbolts ground attack RR scouts – DKOK Thunderbolts on CAP activates and KILLS BOTH (!)

• Red Reaver Engages Inf. Co. in FF. Inf Co. lucks out 5 damage each (one crit). Blue Reaver supports and kill 4 Inf. more. Reavers win assault and kill 5 more, Mortars intermingled and breaks too.
• AMTL Retain, Blue Reaver backs off, shoots one BM on DKOK HQ
• Shadowsword fires on Red Reaver and takes the last DC killing it
• AMTL Warhound doubles
• AMTL Retains, HQ Reaver shoots 1 DC off HQ Gorgon
• Death Rider company Assaults Crusader Robots, 0 hits from first strike but kills all robots with normal attacks for 2 losses
• Crusader unit two shoots and kills 2 Death Riders
• Heavy AA doubles forward for the last turn
• AMTL Thunderbolts Ground Attack Death Rider Co. for 1 BM. Loses 1 plane from AA
• DKOK HQ fails activation and advances
• Earthshakers fires on Crusaders, kills 2 and they break
• Thunderbolts stand down
• DKOK Warhound shoots 3 shields from HQ Reaver

Turn 3
• AMTL Wins initiative
• Thunderbolts ground attack Jetbikes killing one and breaking the unit.
• END TURN –
• Blue Reaver doubles and shoots HQ infantry, killing 6.
• AMTL retains doubles warhound to objective, shoots and kills one of the Hydra AA
• DKOK Thunderbolts ground attack and removes two shields from blue reaver
• HQ company assaults blue Reaver, Reaver does two wounds, DKOK 0 wounds. Roll off – DKOK rolls 3 but the Reaver only 2 and breaks (!)
• HQ Reaver shoots HQ Comp and causes 1 BM
• Shadowsword Doubles and shoots AMTL Warhound for 2 shields and 1 DC
• Crusader Robots fail to activate, REROLL, Fails again (!) – singles towards objective
• Heavy AA fires on AMTL Warhound causing 1 BM and Breaking it
• AMTL Thunderbolts ground attack Death Rider Co. and kills 1
• Light AA triples and takes the AMTL Blitz
• Game called – DKOK wins by taking Blitz and Take and Hold.

Analysis:
AMTL is a very hard army to win with. The casualties was quite light with 3 fully operational Titans remaining (but two broken) but due to low activations they still could not take/contest enough objectives.

The reason for the battle was mainly to try out the new DKOK which actually feels quite close to balance from my point of view. 2 Gorgon inf units are a lot easier for the opponent to handle than three since they are very slow.

This battle showed that Gorgon companies are quite likely to lose engagements against Battle Class titans. Both when assaulting and assaulted. Even having really lucky engagements my DKOK lost the first engagement and the second went to roll-off. Statistically they will hit less than 9 times if all units are in range and they are unhurt, even against a unshielded battle titan this will only cause something like 2,5 wounds. A Titan equipped with some CC/FF weapon will probably do more damage to the Inf. Co. – definitely if charging and avoiding the Gorgons. The DKOK will have inspiring and outnumber but the result is far from certain. A battle titan is more expensive but has an extreme advantage regarding shooting and some regarding mobility.

The Death Rider Company did their thing even if only facing the crusaders, the artillery did very little but I will continue to try out the mortars even if I think that an additional AA-unit will almost always be the better buy. And even though I did not use them I still strongly feel that the mobile Death strike unit should be the same stats-wise as the Steel Legion unit.
