IW Spacecraft set for turn 1. Wraithblades and Wraithguard(SC) both load up Raiders with the other two Wraith formations in the webway
Turn 1 – Iyanden win
1. WB air assault decimator, 1 wound on VR and 2 on Decimator WB win and Decimator breaks standing still, WB move away.
2. WG(SC) air assault Retinue (1BM from supporting previous assault) 2 dead WG & 4 dead IW Iyanden win by 5 leaving 2 IW marines and a rhino to break. WG(SC) also breaks.
3. Spacecraft activates – Barrage misses – Pinpoint misses Stormserpent takes a BM. Assault Warriors land in front of SS(1BM) & SoV.
4. Assault Warriors engage SS & call SoV as intermingled. 2 wounds on SS & 2 dead IW, +1 to IW & they win by 2, SS destroyed & remaining SoV broken.
5. Stormsepent(2) marches forward.
6. Wraithguard(3) engage Decimator and kill it.
7. IW Basilicks sustain at SoV(2) killing a Falcon & FS breaking the unit.
8. WG (BTS) engage assault warriors out of Wraithgate. +7 on resolution and fearless dread breaks. Moves away through ruins and fails DT test destroying it.
9. IW Hellblades GA Wraithblades – 1 BM
10. Vindincators engage Wraithblades & place 1 within 15cm of Vampire (1BM). 1 dead Wraithblade, formation breaks and VR brakes from extra BM & is destroyed.
11. IW Basilicks (2) shoot SoV(1) kills a Falcon 2 more died from BMs.
12. Retinue doubles forward and places BM on WG(3).
13. Obliterators – double forward.
SoV(1), WB & WG(SC) fail to rally.
IW Retinue fails to rally.
Turn 2 – Avatar comes down. IW win SR
1. Retinue sustains fire on Avatar – 1 wound & 2 BM
2. Vindicators engage Avatar – fail (SC re-roll) take BM and fire breaking the Avatar instead.
3. Stormserpent advances, shoots Basilicks, hits 2, 2 save 1BM.
4. Wraithguard(3) doubles shoots Basilicks for a BM.
5. Basilicks marshal, shoot SS for 1 wound & 2BM. They remove all BM.
6. Basilicks (2) sustain at WG(BTS) killing 1 WG for 2 BM.
7. SoV marshal, fail and remove all BM.
8. Hellblades CAP
9. Vampire stands down
10. Obliterators go onto Overwatch
11. WG(BTS) marshall move forward and remove BMs.
WBlades & Falcon rally
Retinue rallies.
Turn 3 – IW win SR
1. Vindicators engage Stormserpent, +2 to Vindicators, SS rolls a 6 and Vindicators break….
2. Basilicks sustain fire at SoV(2) 2 Falcons die and FS breaks
3. SS doubles and shoots Basilicks(2) by Blitz, kills 1 & 2BM.
4. WG(3) engage retinue, win by 2 retinue broken.
5. Basilicks (2) marshal (SC) 1 hit on SS which it saves – 1BM.
6. Wraithblades march
7. Retinue doubles into Iyanden half, pops SoV Falcon.
8. Vampire Raider ground attacks 1BM from CAP shoots Retinue (in IYanden half), kills Rhino, breaks the warriors.
9. Obliterators double back towards blitz & place BM on WG(3)
10. SoV(1) Firestorm doubles to Iyanden Objective. Shoots Retinue & pops a Marine.
11. WG(BTS) march and spread out between Iyanden Blitz and Objective.
Retinue rallies in Iyanden half to go to turn 4 (potential DtF & TSNP win to Iyanden otherwise).
Turn 4 – IW win SR
1. Basilicks advance & shoot SS, 1 wound and breaks.
2. Obliterators engage WG(3) fight goes to 2nd round, Obliterators are wiped out (BTS) WG(3) lose 2 Wraithlords & 2 Wraithguard which breaks the formation.
3. Vampire fails to ground attack with SC re-roll and stands down.
4. Basilicks sustain fire on SoV and breaks the Firestorm.
5. Wraithblades march to the Blitz.
6. Hellblades GA WG(BTS) killing 2, 3BM
7. WG(BTS) marshal removing all BM
8. Retinue march.
9. Vindicators advance and kill the SS.
Only BTS to Iyanden – Points are less than 250 to the IW. Game is declared a draw.
Well we both made mistakes at the beginning. Should have marched the SS, engaged the Decimator through the portal and then engaged the retinue with the WBlades. However Tom said that he should have kept those two formations in his AA bubble.
I am not so worried about the smaller Wraith formations now as they are a pain to rally when broken and close to the enemy (5+). Anitmated Construct would not have been used in this game so feel that it was correct to drop this rule.
