This was my second game this week against codex marines. There was a slight tweak to the marine list and a different style AMTL list this time around. I'll get the report up either later tonight or early tomorrow. Lets just say it was bloody.

Turn 1 start:
AMTL wins strategy roll
AMTL: Warhound A doubles forward and fires on devs 02 wiping them out
Marines: Speeders 02 advance behind warhound A and fire stripping a shield
Marines retain and engage with Dev01
Marines win engagement with no losses, warhound A breaks and retreats behind Marine Objective 01 with one DC remaining
AMTL: Forge Knights A double and fire on Speeders 01 laying a BM
Marine Tbolt A strafes Warhound A to no effect
AMTL Tbolts A intercepts and destroys Marine Tbolt A
Marine Tbolt B returns the favor wiping out AMTL Tbolt A
AMTL TBolt B intercepts Marine Tbolt B to noeffect.
Marines: Tacticals double and fire on FK A laying a BM
Marines: Attempt to retain, Speeders 01 holds and regroups
AMTL Forge Knight B double into the woods
Marines: Pred 02 advances and fires on Forge Knights A killing one knight
AMTL: Warhound B fails to activate and moves up
Marines: Raiders 01 fails to activate, moves up
AMTL: Reaver A advances and fires on Pred 02, 6 hits and 5 saves later, one pred is dead
Marines: Raiders 22 advances and fires on Forge Knights A, wiping them out
AMTL: Reaver B Advances and fires on tacticals, 10 hits and 6 failed saves later, the tacticals break and retreat to AMTL obj2
Marines: Pred 01 fails to activate and moves forward

Turn 1 End Phase:
Warhound A rallies regens a shield
Warhound B fails to rally
Speeders 02 rally
Pred 02 rally
Raiders 01 rally

Turn 2 start:
Marines win strategy roll
Marines: speeders 01 double behind Reaver B and fires on Reaver A dropping a shield
Marines: Retain with Raiders 02. They advance and fire on reaver A strips remaining shields and does 1 damage with crossfire
AMTL: Reaver A advances and fires on Raiders 02. Scores 9 hits and 4 MW hits wiping out the Raiders
Marines: Raiders 01 advances, fires on reaver A and does 2 damage. Reaver A breaks toward AMTL Objective 02 with 3DC left.
Marines: Retain, speeders 02 ]advances into range of Reaver A and makes a whopping 5 hits. Two make it through leaving Reaver A with 1DC.
AMTL: Forge Knights B engage Speeders 01, Speeders force FF, two speeders are hit and killed. One forge knight is hit and killed. Reaver B hits three times in support but all are saved. Assault is tied and goes to second round. Two speeders are hit but both save. The speeders fail to hit. Reaver B hits 3 times one is saved. Speeders lose the assault by 5 wiping out the formation. Forge Knights B consolidate toward Marine Objective 2
Marines: TBolt B goes on CAP
AMTL: Warhound A sustains on Speeders 02. Three speeders die and the formation breaks but remains in place.
Marines: Pred 02 holds and fires on Reaver B and scores a hit dropping a shield
AMTL: Tbolts B ground attack Tacticals. Destroys a rhino and one stand breaking the formation.
Marines: Tbolt B intercept and whiff their shots
Marines: pred 01 advances and fires on Reaver A. Two shots make it through Destroying Reaver A and giving Marines BTS
AMTL: Reaver B sustains on pred 01. 12 hits sees the formation wiped out.
Marines: Dev 01 advances and fires on warhound A scoring one hit and dropping the shields again
AMTL: Warhound B activates and doubles through the woods to fire on Pred 02 scoring enough hits and wiping out the formation


Turn 2 end phase
Tacticals fail to rally
warhound B fails to rally
speeders 02 fail to rally
Warhound A rallies, regens a shield
Forge Knights B rallies
Reaver B fails to rally

Turn Three start:
Marines win strategy, force AMTL to go first
AMTL: Tbolts B stand down
Marines: Tbolt B stands down
AMTL: Warhound A sustains on speeders 02 wiping them out
Marines: Raiders 1 activate and sustain on Warhound B, does one damage breaking the warhound. Warhound B withdraws to the marine blitz
AMTL: Forge Knights B hold even with the Legate reroll and move toward marine obj 2
Marines: Dev 01 activate and engage Warhound A, They score three hits stripping shields and doing 2 damage. Warhound A dies and takes one Dev stand with it. Dev 01 consolidates onto Marine Obj 1
AMTL: Reaver 2 advances toward ATL obj 01, fires on raiders 01 killing one.

Turn 3 end phase
Tacticals Rally
Raiders 01 rally
Reaver B rallies
Devs 01 rally
Forge Knights B rally

Score is tied 1/1: Marines BTS, AMTL Blitz

Turn 4 Start:
AMTL wins Strategy roll
AMTL: Tbolts B ground attack tacticals wiping out the last stand and giving AMTL BTS
Marines: Raiders 01 advance and fire on Warhound B. Scores 4 hits, one goes to shields. Warhound fails 2 saves and is destroyed
AMTL: Forge Knights B double with legate help to AMTL Obj 2 and fire on Raiders 01 but don't hit.
Marines: Dev 01 sustains on Forge Knights B. 5 hits. one Knight dies and the formation breaks withdraws to cover in ruins nearby
AMTL: Reaver B holds and fires on raiders 01, 8 hits but all are saved
Marines: Tbolts B strafe broken forge knights, scores 2 hits wiping out the formation


Turn 4 End Phase:
everyone rallies

We determined that Reaver B wasn't quite over the centerline giving Marines They Shall not Pass by a hair. >:(

Marines win with BTS & TSNP, AMTL: BTS
Had the Reaver been over the centerline AMTL would have "won" the game by 25 points. Overall it was an extremely bloody game.

Thoughts:
Again, didn't feel that the PD was too strong. It contributed to killing the Preds, but I'm not really surprised 800 points could wipe out 250 in one go. Forge Knights felt about as they always do but I could accept it with them at 250. I'll post more if I can think of it.

Heh. yeah. :) This one was actually in vassel. My wife has occupied our table with a sewing project and I'd probably be killed if I tried to move it for a game.

Aha, never tried using Vassal, don't have the Haxxor 1337 skillz that are needed.

it's pretty wretched. The engine is good, just there's a ton of little things that guarantee you fight more with the program than your opponent. But, it does get the job done.

On a further note from the game, Disrupt on the Apoc launcher contributed to breaking the Tactical but beyond that it didn't do a whole lot. It was a very close game and a couple of rolls going different directions would have seen AMTL winning. Notably, the loss of Warhound B and Forge Knights B.

Marines ended the game with 3 land raiders, a mostly intact devastator detachment, and one thunderbolt squadron.

AMTL ended the game with one Reaver without shields and a squadron of thunderbolts.
