DS, bezerkmonkey and I got together last weekend to run some intro games with bz. He came up to NEAT-I but unfortunately could only stay half the day. We played two games, 2k each with bz's Orks vs my Tyranids and DS's Tech Guard.

Turn 1

With no plan forth coming right away I decided to pass the initiative to bz to see what he'd do.

The Stompa mob advanced into the buildings and fire on the Genestealers in the cover of the rubble placing a BM.

The Harridan doubles towards the right flank of the Stompa mob and fires on them placing a BM.

The Gunzmob double towards the center of the board.

The first group of Genestealers march behing the Harridan and take cover behind the rubble from the Stompa mob, preparing to assault next turn.

The Gunwagonz double towards the second group of Genestealers on the Tyranid's right flank and fire on them, placing a BM.

Assault Swarm 3 attempts to get into support range with a double but fails, they move up.

The Warband advanced towards the Harridan and fires on it placing a BM.

Assault Swarms 1 and 2 March up into support range of the Warband.

Genestealer Swarm 2 engages the Gunwagonz:


They break the Gunwagonz, leaving 4 left, and take 3 casualties themselves in a 6-3 win.


End Phase
no spawning for the nids, all formations rally
Stompas rally but the Gunwagonz fail to rally with re-roll.

Turn 2
Initiative: bz



The Stompas attempt to sustain on Assault Swarm 2 but fail and have to use there reroll.

Assault Swarm 1 engages the Warband:


But looses 6-8 and is beaten back:


Assault Swarm 2 retrains and engages the Warband again:


They end up even worse and loose 2-6:


The Gunzmob doubles on Genestealers 2 and breaks them, they retreat to the rubble overlooking the gunz.

The Warband advances on Assault Swarm 1 but fails, they fire anyway and take a few broodlings down.

The Harridan attempt to sustain on the Stompas but fails, it fires anyway and places a BM.

Genestealers 1 engages the Stompas:


They wipe them out completely in a 12-4 win with support help from the Harridan.


Assault Swarm 3 marches into support position on the Gunzmob.

End Phase
Tyranids roll a 3 for spawn, the Harridan and Assault Spawn 3 each spawn two Hormagaunts
all Tyranid formations rally
all Ork formations rally except for the Gunwagonz

Supported by Assault Swarm 3, Genestealers 2 engages the Gunzmob:


They take heavy losses but break the gunz 7-5:


The Harridan retains and engages the Warband:


In an extremely low and close result roll (3-2) it finally manages to break the Warband:


At this point we called them game as bz had 3 broken formations and I still had 4 left to actives:

All and all not bad for a first game. We upped his activation count when he took on DS and that helped a lot. Granted the 'nids aren't the best first opponent but I didn't have my Marines on me unfortunately, otherwise I would have used them instead.

Its always tough to get activations up with Orks, you have to constantly fight down the desire to make everything 'Uge.

Nids are a rough opponent for a new Ork player since the bugs love when people rush them.

He let me come to him. Unfortunately the turning point in the game was when my Genestealers wiped out the 435 point Stompa mob, after that his Warband was left alone and exposed.

Where's that guy who was saying Genestealers don't get their points back?
