Me and Norto managed another game today. We decided to try out E&C new Nid titan list. Norto didn't know what he was facing, i just asked him to do a approved meet all comers list.

I hid as many titans as i could from his shadowsword. My trygons where kept back. I thought they where tunnelers but later discovered they had teleport... haha!

TURN 1: Steel legion wins initiative

SL1.1: Deathstrikes sustain on Dominatrix wiping it out in a nuclear mushroom cloud,c laiming the BTS objective in the first activation of the game... Jeeeeezzzz.....
T1.1: Harridan doubles and fires on manticores for 1BM.
SL1.2: Mech Co on right flank doubles and fires on harridan for 1BM.
T1.2: Hierophant holds and moves forward.
SL1.3: Sentinels engage Harridan on right flank wiping it out for no losses (fire support from nearby Mech Co helped in a big way).
T1.3: HIerophant marches up the right flank to be ready to avenge it's fallen brother in turn 2.
SL1.4: Manticores sustain on Harridan for 1BM. Also manages to clip hydraphant doing 2BM.
T1.4: Harridan marches to left flank and hides behind hill.
SL1.5: Thunderbolts ground attacks Hierophant on right flank for 1DC (2BM).
T1.5: Hydraphant holds and moves.
SL1.6: Thunderbolts ground atatcks harridan on left flank doing 1DC (2BM).
T1.6: Hydraphant marches behind hill.
SL1.7: Thunderbolts ground atatcks broken harridan for no damage.
SL1.8: Shadowsword goes on OW.

SL2.1: Mech Co engages Hierophant. After a total of 29 shots from both Mech Co:s 2DC are done do th titan for the loss of 1 stand and 1 hydra. The guard still wins the roll off easily and the titan runs towards the IG blitz.
T2.1: Hierophant near Tyranid blitz goes on OW.
SL2.2: Manticores sustain on Hydraphant for 1BM.
T2.2: Same Hydraphant holds and moves forward.
SL2.3: Sentinels holds and moves.
T2.3: Hydraphant advances.
SL2.4: Reg HQ sustains on broken Hierophant claiming crossfire to Snetinels (only the hivemind knows why i choose to withdraw into that oistion. The hivemind works in mysteroius ways....) wiping the titan out of existence.
SL2.5: Manticores marches down right flank.
SL2.6: Mech Co marches down to tyranid deployment zone.
SL2.7,2.8,2.9: Thunderbolts stand down.
SL2.10: Sentinels goes on OW.
SL2.11: Shadowsword goes on OW.
SL2.12: Deathstrikes marches to center of the board.

END PHASE:

Harridan rallies.

Right about here i realize that my Trygons are not tunnelers but teleporters and decide to teleport both units in close to the SL blitz to try and go for the BTS and Blitz objective in a 1-2 engage combo. The universe decided for other things....

TURN 3: Steel Legion wins initiative (ah, for f**ks sake!!)

SL3.1: Reg HQ Engages trygons in ruins near the SL blitz. They manage to do 2DC of damage for the loss of 1 stand and 1 chimera. The guard win the roll off.
SL3.2: Shadowsword retains and advances. Fires on the unbroken trygon managing to kill one of them and breaks the formation (they had a BM from before for supporting the other trygon formation in the engagment they lost). Jeeeezzzzz.......
T3.1: Harridan doubles to contest T&H objective. Fires on deathstrikes and kills 1 of them breaking the formation.
SL3.3: Sentinels marches to contest same objective as Harridan.
T3.2: Hierophant doubles down to ruins near Tyranid blitz to contest it.
SL3.4: Sentinels marches down the left flank.
T3.3: Hydraphant doubles and fires on same sentinels killing 2 and breaks the formation.
SL3.5: Manticores sustain on Hierophant near Tyranid blitz doing 3DC and breaking it (COME ON!!!)
T3.4: Hydraphant marshalls and stays put in center ruins.
SL3.6: Mech Co marches to tyranid blitz.

Steel legion now has all 3 units of thunderbolts to activate & a Mech Co. However they don't need them becaise they're winning with 3-0 already (BTS, Blitz and T&H).

My thoughts:

First off i don't know how to play tyrnaids at all. Messed up stats and did stupid moves. Norto had a field day with his shooting obliterating units left and right. Not a proud day for the Hive mind. Me also failing alot of activations and not realizing trygons where teleporters really f-ed things up for the hungry critters.

That being said I really think all big units (Dominatrix, Hydraphant and Hierophant) units should activate on a 1+ like most other titans. They need this to be able to function i think. That plus the +1 for engaging and rallying would help the list alot.

It was fun trying them out and we'll probably try them out again. Hpefully with the correct points and stats that time... :-)

I was laughing hard at the dice vassal was giving me.

At one point I shot manticore at the 4DC bug on the blitz rolling 3 5+s thinking it was a 6dc chump. Rerolled to get 2 5+s still and mordoten failing both and a crit coming through too. That was one of many things that happened in my favor

Felt like it was a pretty bad match up against guard. Mordoten ask me being a all comers list to test something so I stole Dave's guard list unknowing I'd be playing the big bugs. Probably would have tried something different if I knew.


Also I agree with 1+ initiative on the titans. Even with +1 to rally. I feel they need something to compensate for no shields or decent shooting.

But on a more serious note: Since the local epic scene imploded here (4 players just stopped playing it) this is the only chance i get to have some games other than tournaments that happen 4-5 times a year. I enjoy it alot and anyone who's played norto knows that he's a really nice and stand up guy! It's also good because i feel i can contribute to the NetEA community by playtesting heaps of stuff (mainly NDC chages and Inquisition lists right now). More people should try it! If you don't have the luxury of a regular IRL opponent that is...
