Objective deployment

In the image above, the T&H Objectives are walking robot parts, the bright red/yellow piles that don't look like part of the scenery. The Blitz objectives are the brown bunkers on each board edge.

Garrisons, the marines chose not to garrisons. The sisters garrisoned the Retributors in the city in middle(marked in image by a green order dice). They also garrisoned the militia scout sentinels on their blitz, both started on overwatch.

Spacecraft: The Strike cruiser will arrive on turn 2 with barrage centred on the top left corner of the building the retributors are in, the Devastators will also arrive by drop pod on the road through same city block.

Sisters L to R: Seraphim(D), Sentinels(garison), Fraternis Militia(in scout bubble), Repentia, Soroitas(B), Reaver, Penitents, Exorcists, Soroitas(A), Seraphim(C)

Turn 1 Game Start
Teleports: Terminators Teleport in front of Exorcists, 2BMs

Strategy: Marines win
M: Terminators engage exorcists, fail activation, pass re-roll. This was a little disappointing for the marine player to say the least. First round there were only 3 exocist casualties! Support fire took 1 terminator and combat resolution came to a draw and a round 2, As most Terminators were now only in ff range and again fluffed it killing only 1 exorcist support got to fire again killing another Terminator. Combat resolution resulted in a marine win killing off the final exorcist but BMs for casulaties(they had 2 already) was enough to break the remaining terminators, they retreated to a nearby crater. BMs get distributed to supporting fms:Soroitas(A), Penitents & Reaver
S: Soroitas(A) advances towards terminators, fails to act, Holds and moves up towards broken Terminators.
M: Tactical(3) doubles into industrial units near top/middle of table and fire on Retributors, no casualties
S: Lightnings CAP successful
M: Tactical(1) Doubles to far end of central industrial area, fires on Retributors, No casualties.
S: Fraternis Militia double into city next to blitz
M: Assault Double in behind Tac(3)
S: Seraphim(D) Pray move up next to city on left
M: Tactical(2) Doubles next to industrial unit in top right fires at Retributors, No casualties
S: Retributors Pray & Rally shedding all bms
M: Bikes Advance next to Assault Marines
S: Reaver advances next to Terminator's crater and fires at Tactical(2) Killing 2 Rhinos and 2 tactical.
M: Land raiders March up to right hand side of top/middle industrial unit to get a good Line of sighte to Reaver.
S: Sentinels Double towards middle and BM the Assault FM
M: Thunderhawk ground attacks the sentinels from long range to stay in AA umbrella and scare my lightnings off. No casualties
S: Repentia Double up to the top/middle indutrial unit using immolator to bm Tactical(2)
M: Out of Activations
S: Soroitas(B) Double up next to repentia and shoot at Tactical(2) killing 3 marines and breaking the fm.
S: Penitent Choir Marches into position behind Soroitas(A) so as to be in engage range of Land raiders
S: Seraphim(C) Engages broken Terminators and with support from Soroitas(A) destroys them(mostly from cobat res)

End phase, all fms with blast markers rally. Thunderhawk collects BM from hydra on exit, Lightnings stand down.

Turn 2

This is where things get interesting a draw on the strategy roll passes the initiative to the Sisters.

S: Penitent Choir Engages Land raider fm scoring a hefty 6 macro weapon hits and 0 normal, Killing 2 LRs and the Hunter for no damage in return. Support fire from 3 fms caused some hits, I even failed a save but passed the invulnrable. Some very lucky penitents, coming off unscathed.

Followers of my log will notice I forgot my Penitent engines so was proxying with old dreadnoughts.

Being very aware of a Spacecraft action looming and having a large bunch of infantry I capatalised on having the initiative and retained,
S Retain: Repentia Engage Tactical(3) killing 3 rhinos and 2 tacticals, losing a repentia and 2 rhinos in return. Sisters win combat res Tactical(3) breaks and flees.

M: Strike cruiser activates bombarding the retributors, who shrug off the bombardment unscathed. Drop Pods elect to use there 15 cm to deploy outside city between Retributors & Soroitas(B) deathwinds kill 2 rhinos a sister and a dominion from Soroitas(B) they also ice 2 Retributors who break due to bms.

M Retain: Devastator(4) The successfully dropped Devs sustain & crossfire(with the help of Tactical(2)) Soroitas(B) and somehow only kill a single sister
S: Soroitas(B) Prays fails, uses re reoll, passes and chooses to rally shedding 7bms
S Retain: Reaver Sustains on the yet to act Devastator(3) killing 2 Devastators and a dreadnought

M: Tactical(1) Sustains on Penitents killing 2(would have been 3 is not for invulnrable save) Revenge is sweet I guess!
S: Lightnings CAP
M: Thunderhawk ground attacks Repentia killing 3 is Capped, No damage. Repentia Break and flee to left side of board in remaining transports

S: Soroitas(A) Doubles up to where Penitents were and breaks Tactical(2) no casualties.

S: Seraphim(D) Marches to Marine Blitz
M: Assault Marines fm engage Kill 1, lose 2 and are wiped out after combat resolution.
S: Fraternis Militia Double onto T&H at crossroads shoot at Devastator (3), killing 2 devastators, remaining dreadnough breaks.
M: Out of Activations
S: Seraphim(C) Engages Devastator (4), Killing 3 devastators for the loss of a single sister, Combat res after supporting fire was +6 wiping them out.

Lighnings/Thunderhawk disengage without incident 1 BM each
M: All Tacticals rally, remaining devastator dread doesn't.
S: Penitents, Repentia & Soroitas (B) Fail to rallly, everything else succeeds

Turn 3

Initiative passes to Marines.
It's worth noting the marine player had lost all hopeof victory at this point, quickly going downhill since the fairly decisive Sisters start to turn 2. The following is just damage control/going through the motions.
M: Tactical(1) Sustains on the Soroitas(A) scoring lots of hits but only killing 2 after some ridiculously good saves by the sisters.
M Retain: Bikes engage killing 3 sisters and a Rhino for none in return, supporting fire from kills 4 bikes. Marines win, both break.
S: Seraphim(D) Engages Tactical(2) who had fallen back close to the Blitz, 1 casualty each, combat resolution wipes the remaining tacticals out.

S Retain: Reaver Doubles onto central T&H fires on Tactical(1) , killing the hunter & rhinos.

M: Thunderhawk, Ground Attacks against Seraphim(D), no casulaties
S: Militia Scout Sentinels Double onto Friendly blitz to attempt to get DTF
M: Tactical(3) 2 remianing stands Sustain against Seraphim(D), with one suppressed, no casualties
S: Fraternis Militia Sustain against the lone dreadnought, fail to act, hold and fire, no damage.
M: Out of Activations
S: Soroitas (B) Doubles into position next to Tactical (1), fires kills 1 tact.
S: Seraphim(C) Engages Tactical (1), killing 1 more tactical, and making 5 saves, after support from Soroitas (B) and the Reaver Tactical (1) was wiped out earning BTS.

S: Lightnings Intercept Thunderhawk, no damage.


End phase

I would have had Blitz but his sole remaining unbroken fm was within 15cm of it.

I hope the action by action style doesn't make for dificult reading, I'll hold off on my thoughts till after I've got some responses/ questions.

Sorry, bout that I just transcribed my action by action notes. Working on it here at work means I'm unable to annotate the photos(no flash), will try to sort the photos when I get in and update it for easier reading.

Well I tried to but it's more hassle than it's worth, too fiddly. I have fixed some typos/missing details and one double photo however.

Some comments: We didn't get to try the Preadators/Vindicators as my opponent didn't have any, I don't think we missed the thunderbolts. My opponent was also really unlucky with almost everything except reinforced armour rolls, conversely I was really really lucky with my saves. It was a little soul destroying watching my opponent's face every time he got a decent roll to be countered with me passing almost everything.

Penitents may be are a glass sword but man those things are nasty, we were both in agreement about that. The 2 MW attacks are probably a bit much, discussing it with my opponent we agreed that CC3+ and only 1 EA would be better whilst not being too bad. My opponent not having played against them before may well have been a factor, but I didn't really give him a chance to do anything about them till they had already done above and beyond my expectations.

Land raiders, definitely good to see, and did contribute a lot to the offensive abilities of the Tacticals whilst not being OTT. The FM got pasted too soon to tell but I do like them, I'd like them more at 300 personally.

Dreadnoughts, whilst 3+ was hard to deal with it didn't stop me destroying them.

Cheers guys, will try harder with the pics next time, as I'm finishing the sisters to a higher standard just now you'll soon see shots of them in my painting log.

The trial changes made some difference to the game, not much but some. Land raiders work nicely in tacticals without being OTT, my opponent would have liked the formation of them to have a go at my Titan but I didn't let them. Looking back I almost always out activated my opponent, which felt strange considering I had a 650 pt Titan, maybe having tons of expensive upgrades was a little detrimental to his list as a whole.

I have some stuff coming that'll let me test some other changes next time, but I'm having a little too much fun using the sisters.
