It seems to be the consensus opinion that Zzap Guns are a "no brainer" in the Ork list.  The fact that "Zzap Brigade" has become a slang term is good evidence that maxing out on them in Blitz Brigades is a common, even pervasive, tactic.

As of right now, I can see two main options to deal with this:

1)  Increase the cost of Zzap Guns to 75 points.
2)  Reduce the effectiveness in some way (probably MW4+).

#1 has the disadvantage that it makes the army list a little more squirrelly.  It would have to be something like "0-1 Oddboy - Mek +75 points, Slaver +50 points."  It also raises questions about the relative balance of Supazzaps versus Soopagunz.

#2 has the disadvantage that Supazzap guns appear on Gargants as well, requiring some sort of adjustment to naming conventions or accepting the stat change to Gargants as well.

Right now I'm leaning towards #1, mostly because I think a minor point change will cause fewer problems.  I'd like to hear opinions and any other suggestions anyone might have.

I've no problem with squirrelly points costs, so I'm happily in the option 1 camp.

Option 1 sounds about right.  While I'm not perfectly sure on how much the cost increase should be I think increasing it by some amount would be the best solution.

Seconded

I still chuckle to myself about this, and still tend to take more Soopagunz than Supa-Zzaps... I just like my barrages, I suppose!

I think changing the to hit number to MW4+ would be the way to go; and the Gargant is the only other unit, with a single, optional Supa-Zzap so I don't think it's that big of a hardship for them...

It would have to be something like "0-1 Oddboy - Mek +75 points, Slaver +50 points."

The thing is, it isn't "Mek gives Supa-Zzap" and and "Slaver gives Soopagun" in the statlines... "Oddboy" does that, the Mek/Slaver thing tells you what kind of units you can add them to and is, essentially, irrelevant.

I don't think point cost changes are necessary; the reduction in "to hit" should be enough... and Orky weapons hitting on a base 3+ is already un-Orky!  *laugh*

I have to agree.

Those Zzap Brigades are torching small WE and 4+ RA AV with abandon ... and on the double!

4+ MW balances nicely with the Soopagun as well.

MW4+ gets my vote too.

Actually ive been swayed by CHromas line of reasoning here and would change to the MW4+ option.

Given that Ork and Accuracy aren't supposed to be used in the same breath I vote for diluting the efficiency of them.

MW 4+ and call them kustom kanons.

As to the range difference in the speed freaks list, you could either up the range there or not care :p.

My prefered solution would be to leave them as is but make them explode on a six or something, relatively fiddley solution though.
As to the mentioned options the MW4+ would be my favourite.
