Just had the word from Dave, the ERC has granted approved status to the Red Corsairs!

I've attached the v3.5 version of the list to this post, it should be exactly the same as the older v3.4.1 version in the old thread

We've had a lot of support from many groups around the world, so in no particular order I'd like to thank Dave, CaptPiett, Berzerkmonkey, m_folais and the rest of the NEAT crowd for their efforts, playtests and constructive feedback, I'd like to thank PFE200, calico_bill, roboshadow and the rest of the 'PFE playtesting machine' for their contributions to playtesting and approval, and Also Beefcake4000 and his group for their test games and feedback. Finally I'd like to thank Steve54, MikeT and dptdexys for all their help playtesting, tweaking and ideas and also their general encouragement.

I wasn't the person who wrote this list originally, I only inherited it and made some tweaks, so props to Evil & Chaos and BlackLegion for putting it together, also thanks to the ERC for taking me on as AC

if I've missed anyone out, I do apologise, it's been very much a group effort getting the list to the position it is in today :)

great, congrats on getting it done.

For any possible future tweaks, what about DPs as an option in the cultist formations? If a demon dude was going to ge anywhere it would make sense that he'd be in the the cult marines, not the RC basics (who are less demony/god specific to start with)

Folks, as we're all aware, the case of a list being approved, does not prohibit further testing and development, just limits the scope of such things

I have some ideas which I'd like to test based on my own experiences and those of others, feel free to submit your own tweaks, after we've got a few sound ideas let's test them out and see where they lead us

right now I've got the following in mind:

smallish tweaks
- permit Cult Marines to take a Daemon Prince upgrade, the rationale is simple, the cult marines are the ones closest to the chaos gods, so are probably furthest down the path to daemonhood
- Brass scorpions to a 4+ RA save, in my test games they proved to be quite vulnerable to even modest amounts of AT shooting, this would possibly justify a 25pt bump in cost, but maybe not
- chaos drop pods.... Dave has suggested a blanket +50pts to deploy via drop pods, this would generally be a boost for the list with a saving of 10-30 points in most cases, but wouldn't be game-breaking in my opinion, it would bring a unit of chosen with a pact and drop pods into line with marine devastators

the more structural changes
-It has been remarked that the formations are quite restrictive, I had considered something along the lines of reducing the hounds and retinues to six stands with the option to add additional ones (maybe an option to add 2 cult marine stands as well as 4?) maybe this could be compulsory, so the points cost is the same (or higher) but it permits a more flexible arrangement

for example

Red corsairs retinue - 275pts
6 stands of red corsairs marines and one chaos lord character, plus any one of the following:

+2 red corsairs marines - 0pts
+1 obliterator +25pts
+2 cult marines +25pts
+1 dreadnought +25pts
+(some other option)

(note obliterators and dreadnoughts count towards the total number taken as upgrades)

the hounds could be 6 bikers for 250 with the option to buy 2 more bikers for +50 pts

these are more ideas than playtest suggestions, what are people's thoughts?
