I like that solution a lot.

It doesn't change the list much, so much less chance of screwing up the balance. I'll get to work and see if I can't generate a BatRep or 2.

Looking forward to seeing some bat-reps! Will play a battle against White Scars this Tuesday, will probably bring a Plasma Incinerator or Cremator to see how the new rule-change works.

Have updated the post to 1.35.

So,

Is the Greater Brass Scorpion different than a normal Brass Scorpion (which is presumably a Demonic Assault Engine)?

If so, what are people using for a model? If not, what are we using for the Engines?

Thanks!

Yeah, Brass Scorpion is a Demonic Assault Engine, Greater Brass Scorpion is a bigger WE version. There were some great forumware models that I've seen a few pictures of, but good luck finding any.

Here's what they looked like:

What NoisyAssassin said. I've found my Daemon Assault Engines on ebay.co.uk, but these can obviously be pretty much anything with tracks, skulls (important!) and spiky bitz.

For the Greater Brass Scorpion it's finding the Forumware, or converting something like this http://heresyminiatures.com/shop/index. ... ucts_id=71 or maybe something from Dystopian Wars like the Covenant of Antarctica which haves some cyber-crab-thingies of roughly the right size. http://shop.spartangames.co.uk/SearchRe ... p?Cat=1953

This from exodus wars might work as well: https://hlsmodels.com/collections/exodu ... ng-machine

The Tomb Scorpion model to Warhammer Fantasy (RIP) would be the right size, and would probably require a minimum of conversion. https://www.google.se/search?q=tomb+sco ... 93&bih=798

Shapeways have Scorpions of different sizes, could probably work as both as Assault Engines and Greater Brass Scorpions. https://www.shapeways.com/marketplace/? ... e-products

Then there are these Necron things from Forgeworld. With some adjustment they would probably work very well indeed, and you get 3 for £42. https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-SE/Necr ... canthrites

Might end up using this option myself. Can't see myself using more than three of these anyway.

There's also two alternatives from Forge World 30K Mechanicum: https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-SE/Mech ... e-Automata and https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-SE/Mech ... Ursarax-FW

Now I'm imagining the Wraith model used as the base, but with a Khorne Berserker head stuck on. It's adorable!

I agree, it could work really well! And it's pretty affordable too.

I personally use a lot of Tyranids and to a lesser degree Necrons when I convert, they make excellent bitz and bodies for Daemon Engines.

Went out and bought a box of Necron Wraiths, and built three Greater Brass Scorpions out of them + some Chaos bitz. The way I did it was by turning them upside down and using the claws as legs. They're a tad on the big side, but totally works.

I read your last battle report and I think Khorne especially benefits from being mono-faction. The Initiative and especially the Stategy rating are extremely important for them getting close.

The other benefit Khorne has is cheap(er) activation counts. Khorne can have 4 Support formations for 900 points, Undivided/Slaanesh 1050 and Nurgle/Tzeentch 1100. That's at least a 3rd Scorpion or 7-8 demons and quite possibly an extra activation (fighters).

Those look great.

How big did they end up being?

I'm considering these:

for about the same price.

Those are 40mm bases, so it looks like those (to the tails) are about the same height as Warhounds, probably just a little bit taller.
