Yes, thats a way better idea than a speed increase!

Could it be interesting to give it Daemonic Pact (and posdibly augumented summoning)?? I'm thinking that it could carry around a portal to the warp inside its structure and that daemons could be spewing out of it as it rolls over the battle field.

Yes this does seem like fun! Drop transport and the speed to 15cm and give it Daemonic Pact!
The indirect fire DC4 version seems interesting too, would really help with the slowness of the DG list. Not sure how well it would replicate in the LatD though.

Isn't that just fundamentally destroying everything about the unit... It's supposed to be a siege transport, make it slower if its OP but leave the rest alone.

I would keep the transport and add the pact. A transport without void shields and with the same speed as inf is just a walking death trap anyways...

For the marines it would probably be a death trap but for several other units with low or no save it would be a fortress at 6 DC :)

DC6 4+ RA Inv Fearless with a non lethal crit … about as non-death-trap like as you could wish for!

The crit also auto-kills d3 transported units, and this used to be random units (and still is in EpicUK lists). It's not a big issue for LatD when you're often filling it with cheap units and it's less of an issue for NetEA Death Guard who can add on cheap Chaos Spawn, but it's a big issue for the EpicUK DG where you're losing a ~35pt Plague Marine each time, or potentially a ~85pt Lord or other character.

Allowing some embarked troops to FF sounds promising, but bear in mind the differing effects this is going to have between DG and LatD. LatD have crappy FF apart from the Big Mutants' FF4+ and you can only have four of those in the formation before it's too big to fit in a single Plague Tower. While DG have FF4+ or 3+ and can get an EA+1 MW FF from a Lord and an EA+1 First Strike FF from a Champion.

Daemonic Pact - this sounds fluffy, but I think it has issues for lone Plague Towers that aren't being used as transports. My personal preference would be to only apply it to PTs taken as transports, or instead go for some mix of Augmented Summoning and/or Daemonic Focus like the Chaos Altars have.

Well something to remember about the LatD is that the benefit of PT is the RA armour for the crap troops without saves (or terrible ones). The ability to FF from a PT is not the value proposition for them, unlike the potential with the embarked Plague Marines, if my FF suggestion pans out. Seems less abusive than 20cm moves.

Sure, I'm just pointing out that LatD would get substantially less use out of it than 20cm, while DG would be able to abuse it with massed supporting fire.

I think this is something to playtest:

Reduce speed to 15cm.
Add Augment Summoning (+2) and Daemonic Focus.

This takes the PT formations down to 15cm and no other change, because the added abilities don't do anything for them, even if transporting another formation.

As a transport it adds a lot of oomph to any daemon summoning, but might overshadow the Chaos Altar in LatD.

Mike, Steve and Simon - any feedback?
