after my emperor's children game last night, I'm of the opinion that 275 points for terminators with a character in a list with access to thunderhawks is a bit too cheap

I'd like them tested at 300 points per formation from now on please

Me and Greg(Pfe100) had game using the all RC 3.4 terminators&thunder-hawks list that you did, against the list matty_C did for the Codex Astartes on page four...

We are playing another game using the same lists and we will factor the point increase into your list..so basically dropping a thunder hawk and adding another champion ......should be fun...

thanks for the batrep, a couple more from you guys and if I can get my share played, we should be ready to submit for approval before too long

I've got a game tomorrow night, taking the following list:

Retinue - warlord, pact, rhinos, hunter - 440
Retinue - pact, rhinos - 340
Terminators - pact - 300
Spaceship - 200
Thunderhawk - 200
Thunderhawk - 200
Chosen - drop pods, pact - 285
Berzerkers - pact - 300
Brass scorpions - 250
Hellblades - 200
Helltalons - 225

what are people's thoughts on the berzerker formation? currently I think it's hard to deny it's overcosted, if you look at the NetEA world eaters list, for 300 points you get an 8-strong formation which puts out 12 CC attacks, the EpicUK world eaters list has a standard berzerker formation of 8 plus a chaos lord for 275 points

if we compare them to chaos terminators which are also 275 points, terminators have:

-2 more attacks total
-4 more MW attacks
-Reinforced armour
-Shooting attack
-Teleport
-better FF on average

berzerkers have:

-fearless
-2 more units

I'd prefer to see them go up to 8 stands for 275 rather than decreasing in points, what are people's thoughts?

Simplest solution is up the formation to 8 strong ,I doubt air assaults will become anymore problematic than with Terminators.

so latest suggestions

1. increase berzerker formation size to 8 for 275
2.a) reduce lesser daemon to CC4+ and drop to 10 points, OR b) replace with daemonic beasts

I'm in favour of 1 and 2a, what say other users?

Regarding the problem of having no cheap formations, all the unit sizes follow SM size conventions except bikes who are 8 strong for some reason.

Its probably a bit far in development to change that so could smaller bike formation in support be added - 175 for 5? or 200 with a Lord. Perhaps even the option to replace 1-2 with Attack bikes or Speeders

the bike formation is large to represent the 'hounds of huron' which are large packs of renegade marine bikers who are assembled before a major conflict (or at least that's what I think the rationale is)

I like dptdexys suggestion of having a 4-strong mounted chosen formation, 4 chosen, 2 rhinos, for ~150 points

with the cost increase of the drop pods, I think the 6-strong chosen formation could probably lose 25 points too.... which would give you 260pt deathwind rather than 285...

Got another game lined up tonight, hopefully the other guys will also be using the corsairs so it should be a 2-for-1 deal ;)

taking the following list:

Retinue - warlord, hunter, pact - 400 (BTS)
Retinue - sorcerer, rhinos, pact - 340
Retinue - sorcerer, rhinos, pact - 340
Terminators - pact - 325 (testing at 300 points)
Strike Cruiser - 200
Thunderhawk - 200
Thunderhawk - 200
Chosen - pods, pact - 285
Chosen - rhinos, pact - 255
Hellblades - 200
Hell talons - 225

3 Lesser daemons (+6 from pacts)

with two extra ground pounding formations I'm hoping to use the standard black legion rolling wall o'death technique supported by surgical terminator strikes

Add landing craft and let them carry blood slaughterers. go on. break the list.
(it would save any concern over chaos terminator air assaults, as no one would want terminators any more!)
