Took the same list I ran above for another spin yesterday against codex astartes. Was a very close run thing with very little left standing at the end of turn 3 but was a 2-1 victory for the Corsairs!

Army once again ran really well with nothing over or under powered. Really like this list, will try some of the other units soon.

I have been thinking about weapon loadouts.... currently this list uses all the weapon configurations from the black legion list like combi bolters, reaper autocannon etc.... I'm wondering whether we should actually match up the weapons with the codex list so we move back to assault cannons on termies and dreadnoughts again?

This doesn't bother me either way to be honest. Though from a fluff perspective I agree the assault cannons make more sense.

I'm still pretty new to Epic in general and, after looking at the list, I'm not too sure what kind of list I should be aiming to build. I have pretty much everything, so I'm currently inclined to go with Bikes supported with cult troops and respective engines, plus stuff in Thunderhawks?

Without They Shall Know No Fear, the Thunderhawks seem somewhat fragile. Anyone had any experience with this?

Any help and tactics is greatly appreciated!

there has been extensive debate about the thunderhawks, the identically costed and significantly less robust eldar Vampire has the same issues, yet I can count on one hand the number of games I've played in where a vampire was lost to being broken within 15cm of an enemy unit

in my most recent game against the list, my opponent used two thunderhawks, neither of which suffered remotely from a lack of ATSKNF

by all means try your list out :)

I see the list as a fast moving raiding force, so you'd expect spaceships, drop pods and thunderhawks to be quite common, alternatively you can go for a ground based approach with bikes, cult marines, daemon engines and summoned daemons, or a mixture of the two

Probably going to run my first game with corsairs tonight I love the thunder hawk. Yeah it doesn't have imperial marine rules but neither do my orcas or ork dropships and they do just fine. If your landing site gets swarmed that's on you! Best thing about it is the speed and tactical options that it opens up.

Money where my mouth is will be coming in about 10 hours so I'll see you in about 12 to complain about how shit the thunder hawk is I guess!

Question re blood slaughters. Can they. Be transported in a thunder hawk? Do they fit or are they the same size as termies/dreads?

no they are armoured vehicles, bigger than a dread, around the same size as a defiler

That bring said, hypothetically they'd be able to be flown in on a transporter then (not that I'm advocating that being added, mind you)

How you deal againt armoured formations? i run into two LR companies supported by artillery and running only four Land Raiders and four preds i got serious problem, Thunderhawk assault worked but otherwise i have almost nothing to counter the tanks - my new plan is to adapt bikes and terminators but otherwise how you do it?

Terminators, TK or MW shooting.

Engage them.... as long as you get plenty in btb where armoured units are typically weak, you should win quite easily, then kill the armoured stuff with hackdowns....

This list has a plethora of good CC troops, terninators, berzerkers, plague marines, defilers, blood slaughterers and daemons, properly prepped and supported they should all munch through most armoured formations :)

Yeah this list isn't lacking in CC troops. Sustaining in a gun line against armour, especially Guard, is simply playing to their strengths. Use those Defilers and Blood Slaughtere infiltrate to make armour dead. They like to chew up armour in engagements i find. Use the (relative) zippy hounds and renagade formations to set up a case of making the enemy only able to deal with one (thus leaving the other unmolested) and you should be in good shape (provided the dark dice gods don't frown upon you)

I tend to use teleport assault against lower strat armies (gaurd) or straight up thunderhawk/termie assault against higher strat armies (marines) though I've not had a wealth of experience.

It should work... unless you get critted out of the sky.... I think too many people are scared of doing thunderhawk enegagements because they've been burned once! >:D
