Hi Everyone

Here is the latest version of the World Eaters list

Everything should be updated and the document should have everything you need at your fingertips

Please post links to any battle reports, findings or thoughts as this thread will be used as the one place to refer to when 01 Jan 2011 comes around.

Overnight there were some changes announced for the Black Legion and the LatD.

There are some very minor changes that I have to make:

- Khorne Assault Engines & Khorne Support Engines both gain Reinforced Armour and lose Invulnerable Save (this may see a price increase - I need to review the numbers)
- Lord of Battle loses Invulnerable Save


The changes also saw a small increase in Raptors and Terminators. I have reviewed the changes and am happy to state that they should have no effect on the costings in this list for the freeze period.

So either update the two changes on your printed documents or wait for the updated upload when I load it tonight.

Sorry about this small change.

If you are playing a game in the meantime, please enact the changes with the Khorne Engines and keep the INV save on the LoB.

I have now uploaded the corrected version of the list.

The changes (due to the updates on the BL list):

Khorne Assault Engines replaced Invulnerable Save with Reinforced Armour and increased by +25 points
Khorne Support Engines replaced Invulnerable Save with Reinforced Armour and increased by +25 points
Lord of Battles removed Invulnerable Save

No more changes will be made to the attached document till after 01 Jan 2011.

Play tests will show whether the Khorne Assault Engines being priced the same as the Defiler formation is justified.

You may want to re-think your freeze.

EpicUK will be revealing their Chaos lists in the next few days (Including a WE list, doubtless), and there may be some good ideas in it that you can ask to use... ?

That is a good idea....

I was going on a directive from the NETEA Chaos Champ, however seeing he appears to be involved with both, it may throw a 'spanner in the works'.

My main concern will be the lead up to any WE list they may have been developed.

In any event, I wish the NetEA Chaos project moved with the same momentum. How long have we been at this now?

Pretty sure Steve's been trying to synch things up. Which is good. I'm all for getting lists finished.

You know, these are not the same as the L&D units. There's no reason you have to follow them unless you just want to.

EpicUK is a closed group. Suggestions are taken from the boards and the tourney community in the UK, but all the development is closed. Also, they are focused entirely on UK tourneys and are unconcerned about the "metagame" aspects in other areas, like the US, Oz, or even non-tourney gameplay in the UK.

Fewer cats to herd.

Yeah, just trying to work with the status quo rather than against it. They are similar enough to warrant a play test at least. It does make them better so any small boost to assist this list is a bonus.

EPIC UK have just released their Chaos List with Cult Marine Forces.

Upon initial view, there is nothing in there that makes me think we need to adopt anything for now.

The freeze will still remain in effect with no changes till 01 Jan 2011.

Your list seems better anway. Points costs are much more reasonable for building a force.

I hope so. Regardless of all the ideas and debates that go on, my main goals are playability and fluff. I just need to find the balance.

I have no opinion on the EpicUK lists. Although I will view them for possible inspiration, I do not wish to get caught up with trying to match ideas that I was originally attempting to move away from (namely all Fearless armies). So the quest continues :)

Been reviewing the list again as I am using it as part of the TOEG challenge.

The Possessed and Chosen are both overpriced IMO.

If compared to a Marine Assault formation:
- The Possessed Invulnerable Save and 2+ cc is almost comparable in power to ATSKNF and SR5. I would think that their cost could reduce to 200 points in the next review
- Chosen having Scout and an extra attack are also comparable to Assault Marines with their MV, SR and ATSKNF. Thier cost may be reduced to 175 (maybe 200 due to Skull Lord)

Any concerns over 'spamming' these two units can be handled in a few ways:
1. Keeping the restrictions of one per 1000 points as currently exists (probably not going to prevent people taking all 6 formations in a 3000 point list for 1125 points - that a major issue?)
2. Making Support Formations only available from purchasing 'World Eater Berserker Retinues' (keep the restriction in '1' as well).
3. Other option is to throw them into the Auxiliary (Purchased on a 1:1 basis - I would rather not however).

Anyone else support or oppose these changes?

Another unit I have been reviewing are the Juggernauts.

there appears to be a belief to make these 2 to a stand - thereby being INF.

My only concern with this is making sure that they are a viable formation for a World Eaters Force.

- If they go to INF with no other changes, their points go up to a stage that they will be come un-viable on a cost scale
- If they go to INF with some changes, I have a concern that they become un-viable on a 'useless' scale.

Upon this initial review, my goal is to keep them at the same points (50 points per unit). To make them INF and keep their cost, something has to change so here are some random thoughts without doing comparrisons at this stage:
1. Lose the EA+1 and their only attack is a MW
2. They lose Invulnerable Save
3. Lose the FF attack

Note, I am not stating that they lose all or combinations. These are what I see as the only things that are possibly changable on the unit

Any thoughts?
