Greetings to the Damned!

Well, March is NetERC "Minor Army Month", so I thought I'd whip my Daemon World army into better shape.

So, here it is!

Changes

Summoning pool gone, this is a full-blown daemonic incursion, no need for summoning!  *laugh*

Added some Faction specific "fast attack" options, the stats for those units can be found in the Black Legion pdf or the Faction specific Cult Marine lists... well, except for Beasts of Nurgle, which I can't seem to find Epic stats for.

Some point tweaks as well.

Anyway, take a look and let me know what you think!

With luck, I might give the list a try on Friday.

However, I would suggest including the stats for Juggers, Beasts and the like as profiles for them could be lifted from several differing lists in the "Current Chaos lists" thread.
Better not leave that open for interpretation!

Well, as this is a "hybrid" list that pulls from various sources, it's not really my place to "finalize" those stats, so I can't really do that... I'd say use the ones out of the Black Legion pdf as your first "go to", but definitely mention it in any playtesting you do!

That´s not really helping the list, since the stats for say Juggers, which I happen to have two dozen stands worth of, are basically up for grabs as there is nothing even approaching officialness out there.

Lord I´s World Eaters list doesn´t include them, leaving Dobbsy´s and my very own stats to pick from. I´ll take mine for 50 points per Jugger, as that means +1 EA!

Infantry 20cm 3+ 3+ 5+
Weapon Range Firepower Notes
Bolters (15cm) Small Arms
Crush (base) Assault Weapons, Extra Attacks(+1)
Notes: Fearless. Infiltrators. Mounted


BatRep wise, I have found my digicam in its secret hiding place and am charging batteries right now. Next is coercing a worthy opponent for some playtest!

On the list:

The entry reads "Warp Rift" while the special rule refers to a "Chaos Gate". Pick one!
The Greater Daemon entry mentions the now-defunct Daemon Pool, scrap that.


I made a 3k list for possible use on friday, comments?

075 chaos gate
175 plague zombie infestation

575 daemonic horde + Greater Daemon + 3x LD (khorne)
250 daemonic horde (khorne)
275 daemonic horde + 1x LD (tzeentch)
225 mutant horde + CSM aspiring champ (SC) + chaos spawn (khorne)


400 lord of battles
400 8x juggers
400 8x juggers
225 chaos renegade pack

GDs seem a little on the expensive side, doubling the cost of the basic daemon horde. Let´s hope I won´t be facing Eldar, they´ll skimmer such an army to death...

Read the actual "Warp Rift" bit of text in the list... and all is explained!  It's based on the wording of the Eldar Gates...   :agree:

Er... Greater Daemons are their *own* formation/horde... not an "upgrade"...  you can buy a Greater Daemon and then add stuff *to* Its formation.

Oh, it´s pretty obvious in the list, I just did not expect to be able to field single GD and promptly misread that part.

Anyway, new list:

075 warp rift

250 daemonic horde (khorne)
250 Bloodthirster
250 Lord of Change
275 daemonic horde + 1x LD (tzeentch)
275 mutant horde + daemon prince (SC) + spawn (khorne)
250 mutant horde + daemon prince (tzeentch)


400 lord of battles
350 7x juggers
200 hellfire cannons
200 hellfire cannons
225 chaos renegade pack

11 activations and I´m moderately confident with this list!

edit: to include pet chaos spawn for the Great Abomination´s formation...

Ok. Thoughts:


On removal of summoning.

Hmm.
On the upside it solves the possible interaction between it and the instability rule.
On the downside it removes the possible interaction between it and the instability rule.

The demagogue, icon bearer and chaos alter are all a bit pointless now.
(that said, fluffwise it can be justified, worship is for humans)

Finally it may limit the army too much in terms of speed – you can no longer shift a large  proportion of your army about between different formations..
Presumably that's why the new units are mostly fast attack.


On missing units.
Why no defilers? Soulgrinders would be nice too. Especially since they may become model options soon…

Chaos Altar is the only ground AA in the army... and paired up with a Greater Daemon makes a good "blocker"...

The Icon Bearer (and I'll probably add the Champion of Chaos in there too) also adds Leader and Invulnerable Save to whatever unit/formation it's added to... that seems worth it to me!

Unless the fluff has changed... which it sure could have, weren't Defilers Abbadon's big surprise unit during the 13th Black Crusade... not sure how common they are... I'll have to look them and Soulgrinders up.

you may be right on the defilers.

Soulgrinders I believe are a deamonic engine. not certain though, haven't the codex.
