Well, I've had a hard time deciding which of my armies to bring to a GW Game Day that's happening this month, so, I set up a poll to see what the EpiComms population thought I should do.

It's been a close race, with Lost and the Damned and Orkamedies Gargant Big Mob battling it out for supremacy. ?So, it just makes sense to have them fight each other for the honour! ?A friend and I are going to play a couple of games this afternoon/evening and see who's left standing!

My friend BloodNGuts came over for this match-up, and we actually wound up playing *two* games, once for each of the two lead competitors in the poll. ?This is the report for the first game.

Sorry about the long delay in posting this, but I've been going 48 hours with eight hours of sleep with a big deployment for a client... after I sleep, or die, I'll try to get up both reports!

Setup

4'x4' Table

Objectives, Garrisons, Deployment

LatD kept both formations of Plague Zombies off board.

OGBM garrisoned the Snappa Mob and Lootaz separately, one off of each forward objective.

LatD garrisoned the Khorne and Undivided Covens near the centre of the table and the Hellfire Cannons off the Blitz on a hill.

Turn 1

Strategy Roll: LatD

The Brotherhood of Fear advances towards the clanking Ork walkers in the nearby ruins, but are unable to pierce the tin-plated sides of the machines with their wild firing, though a small amount of confusion is sown.

Hoping to tear the Orks limb from limb, the Brotherhood of Blood hesitates when they realize their enemies are made of metal, they ponder the attack, philosophizing as to the nature of spilling blood in regard to mechanical creatures, and merely rally after heated debate.

Big Booma double out of the ruins, trundling forward on heavy tracks, before unleashing thunderous death on both the Brotherhood of Blood and the closer Brotherhood of Fear. ?Six cultists are blown apart, and they learn the meaning of terror as the Brotherhood of fear breaks and runs.

The Spears of Doom sustain fire on the Da Lurchas, vapourizing two Dreadnaughts.

Seeing that they have dead-shooty guns, Findaz-Keepaz double towards the Hellfire Cannons, firing to suppress and causing no damage.

Fury's Flame is unleashed on the loota band, as the Lord of Battles advances on them, killing a Grot and three Boyz.

Trying to help his chumz, Spinecutta doubles towards the Lord of Battles, but can't get a solid hit on the infernal machine.

The Chariot of Dysatar sustains fire and pummels Da Lurchas and Spinecutta with great gobs of acidic pus and phlegm, dissolving 2 Killa Kans and a Dreadnaught, but doing no harm to the Kustom Gargant.

Da Skyburnas come screaming in, and ground attack the Spears of Doom, obliterating two of the deadly daemon engines.

The Brotherhood of Rot calls upon the power of Nurgle and is rewarded with a Great Unclean One and five Plaguebearers, and the reeking mob of cultist march forward to centerline of the battlefield, taking cover in the ruins.

'Eadsmacka doubles forward, from ruin to ruin, and unloads on the Brotherhood of Rot? popping a single Plaguebearer?

Da Zappas are unsure what to do, and just talk about what they're going to do if anyone gets close.

Rally

Only Spinecutta rallies for the Ork, while the Lord of Battles and the Hellfire Cannons rally for Chaos.

Turn 2

It seems the building that 'Eadsmacka wandered into had a morgue in the basement as two swarms of zombies come shambling out, surrounding the Gargant?

Strategy Roll: OGBM

Spinecutta stands its ground and sustaining fire on the Lord of Battles, blasting away 2 DC from the howling war engine.

Big Booma does a slight pivot and brings its guns to bear on the two co-mingled swarms of Plague Zombies, blasting them apart with the grateful support of 'Eadsmacka's crew. ?Five zombies are put to rest, and the rest break? and hold their ground.

The Brotherhood of Rot calls forth five more Plague Bearers and advances closer to the action, firing on Da Zappas, blasting apart one Traktor Kannon.

Findaz-Keepas double towards the Lord of Battle, firing wildly to no effect.

Confused by taking so much damage and dishing so little out, Fury's Flame tries twice to sustain fire on a worthy target, but fails and tries to figure out just what went wrong?

'Eadsmacka looks around at all the available heads to smack, and pushes forward to engage both Plague Zombie swarms and the just barely co-mingled Brotherhood of Rot, with the support of Big Booma, and Da Zappas. ?It's a nasty fight against the minions of Nurgle and the Gargant loses 2 DC and has a fire start burning, 5 zombies are dispatched, destroying the Ravaged, and a single Plaguebearer is sent back to the Warp, forcing the followers of Chaos to flee.

Rumbling with indigestion and other forms of fury, the Plague Tower advances, venting its bile on the victorious Gargant, but does nothing but dissolve a nearby Plague Zombie.

Disturbed by the stench, Da Zappas hesitate, eventually firing on the Brotherhood of Rot, killing a single Cultist.

The Spears of Doom try to move forward, but they get bogged down, the capricious daemons that power them becoming confused and broken.

Da Skyburnas again zoom in, unloading rokkits on the Lord of Battles and doing another point of damage.

Not quite through with their debate, the Brotherhood of Blood fails to engage anyone nearby, and instead fires on Findaz-Keepaz, killing a Grot and a Boy.

Rallies

The Brotherhood of Rot and the Spears of Doom fail to rally for the cultist, and Da Lurchas continue to run away. 'Eadsmacka's fire continues to burn, doing another point of damage.

Spinecutta again stands its ground, sustaining fire on the Lord of Battles, inflicting another point of damage and causing a critical? which causes much consternation to the Orks, as the fell machine moves closer!

Big Booma doubles up the hill to blast the Lord of Battles and the Brotherhood of blood with 10BP! ?Sadly, only a single point of damage is inflicted on the wobbling Fury's Flame.

With a worthy foe finally in sight, the Brotherhood of Blood performs a combine assault with the Lord of Battles against Big Booma. ?The fight is over almost before it begins as something detonates in the gun-covered Blasta Gargant, blowing it apart and taking one Mutant and one Big Mutant with it!

Da Skyburnas streak in to strafe the Lord of Battles, doing no damage, but shaking its resolve and breaking it.

The Brotherhood of Fear doubles towards 'Eadsmacka, firing to little effect.

'Eadsmacka doubles away from the still swarming Plague Zombies and fires on the broken Nurgle Coven, killing three more Cultists.

Da Zappas do the same, but only manage to take out one Cultist.

The Chariot of Dysatar advances and unloads death on the closely packed Zappas and 'Eadsmacka, killing a Big Gun unit as inflicting 2DC damage on the Gargant.

The Shamblers shamble up to engage 'Eadsmacka, but it smacks three of them down, causing them to scatter slightly.

Rallies

Grots put out 'Eadsmacka's fire, and all the Orks, but Da Lurchas and Da Zappas rally. ?The Brotherhood of Rot and the Ravaged fail to rally for the Lost and the Damned.

End of Turn: LatD 0 (none) vs OGBM 0 (none)

Strategy Roll: OGBM

Revving up its Rippa-Fist, Spinecutta moves forward to engage the Lord of Battles. ?Both of the mighty war engines inflict a single point of damage on the other? the Kustom Gargant stands, while the Lord of Battles falls? WAAAAAAAAGH!

The Plague Tower sustains fire on the Gargant, poisoning 1DC worth of riggers and crew.

The Brotherhood of Fear run forward to engage the staggered 'Eadsmacka, they do 1DC of damage and start a fire, but are completely wiped out for their trouble!

'Eadsmacka doubles towards the annoying Plague Tower and manages to do a single point of damage.

The Spears of Doom advance to fire on the celebrating Kustom Gargant, but miss.

Da Skyburnas make one more pass, their tankbustas taking out the Spears of Doom, and they wing back to base for some well-deserved squig-beer.

Enraged by the destruction of the Lord of Battles, the Brotherhood of Blood engages Spinecutta, they manage to do 3DC of damage and send it out of control, killing one Mutant, and trampling two others, breaking the whirling Kustom Gargant.

Unsure what to do, Findaz-Keepaz hold their ground, hoping some nifty gear will be left lying around for them to nick?

End of Turn: LatD 0 (none) vs OGBM 1 (BTS)

Tie-breaker: LatD 1810 vs OGBM 1898 (TIE GAME!)



This is where we had a little bit of difficulty: how is the Daemon Pool scored against in Tie-breaker? ?All the daemonic units had been eliminated from play (pool was empty), and we both agreed they should count as destroyed, but we didn't find anything clear about this in the rules. ?Wraeththu, could you clarify this?
