Well, I was thinking: Though it's not uncommon for Storm Troopers to be deployed in Platoon or Regiment/Batallion[whatever] scale, most common[so I hear] is to be attached to other Companies of Imperial Guardsmen.
Now, in this regard: Perhaps it is worth considering, alike Ogryns and Snipers including them as Imperial Guard 'Company Upgrades'. That is:
Upgrade Units Cost
Stormtroopers Two Stormtroopers 50pts
Simple.
Thoughts?
Of course, it's not 'needed' for any particular reason, but it seems thematically more correct, and offers a bit of a 'utility' armoured 'tip' to a normal IG Regiment. Alternatively, having them inside a Leman Russ or Baneblade formation makes sense as well, used as 'anti-infantry' components, or at least deterrents.

I think that thematically, the upgrade would have to include more units (i.e. 4 storm troopers). It seems like ten guys really couldn't get much done, but twenty guys could (okay, that made more sense in my head than it does written out).
Functionally, what you present seems fine, although from my POV, it's because this is such a minor addition that it doesn't warrent much concern.

Agreed on the 'minor issue' component. It isn't exactly a pressing concern.
I suspect that even the addition of '10 men', will allow a player to accurately add slight boosts to his formation. However, I'd expect that it's unlikely someone would 'just' add 1 Upgrade. 3 Seem more likely, or 2 and a fire support. It just givess a 'wee bit of oomf' to a formation.

Each upgrade to a Steel Legion formation can only be taken once, so you couldn't add multiple Stormtrooper upgrades to the same company.

I guess the pressing question on my mind is - as far as IG go, storm troopers and valkyries seem to work great. Why propose changing them?
What's the motive?

Chroma: Woops. I knew I was missing something. You're right, an upgrade for 100pts for 20 seems more reasonable. Sortof. Or, as part of the upgrade it is "2 or 4 Stormtrooper Units. 25pts each"
Tactica: My motive? They work great, but it still seems better to represent the options IMO. Nothing conspiracy related though.

Oh, man... the number of times I've stepped back from a page and said that to myself...
On topic: I like the idea of Stormtroopers as a company upgrade. If a Stormtrooper platoon goes for 8 stands at 200 points, then letting someone tack on two stands for 50 points works fine in my mind.
