Hi all,

Is there a reason that Hellhounds' Inferno Cannon do not confer Ignore Cover on their Firefight value? All the other units in a list like Minervans that have flamer-type weapons do. In fact, I suspect the reason is that the Hellhound rules were ported from Steel Legion and so does not have it, while Salamander Commands, Heavy Flamer Chimeras and the Stormsword all do.

Do people think it would be imbalanced to give Hellhounds this rule, or is it something you think could be updated or house ruled pretty safely?

If you gave it IC on the FF I'd drop it to FF4+. FF used to be inflated for flamer weapons (e.g. Skorchas) as there were no IC on FF attacks in the beginning. They begun to sneak their way in and the hit allocation rules were errata'ed to compensate.

Given that there is no special rules on assault weapons on the eight 100% official lists besides MW and First Strike, that the second was a very late addition to SL and that Biel-Tan had several strange changes done to it before release because back then there was people complaining it wasn't powerful enough, there has to be a strong reason for it.

About your guess, EA operates under one weapon one stat rule, so what you say about Hellhounds in Minervan list could not be done.

And about your second question, i think that it has not been done because it is not important enough to house rule, but if you want, go on with the suggestion Dave gave or 5+ maybe.
