I really don't understand this. What do they hope to accomplish?

Are they afraid someone may start making models with the words "Imperial Guard" on them? Stop worrying. People have been doing that for ages. (Largely in the historical section, but still….)

Are they afraid people may make sic-fi figures that can be *used* as Imperial Guard? They still can, no matter what you call your figures. You can't prevent other people from making "sic-fi soldier with a ray gun".

Are they afraid other people may make parts/figures advertised as "compatible with GW's Imperial Guard figures"? Didn't the Chapterhouse lawsuit just prove that people can still do that even with a unique new name?

This seems like a lot of time, effort, expense, and fluff-wrecking that changes absolutely nothing.

Besides, GW performed the cardinal sin of picking a new name that I can't say three times fast. So I'll keep using the old name. (How many times do you *really* say "Adeptes Astartes" in casual conversation?)

Actually, I think the case that triggered the name changes was the book "Spots the Space Marine". GW tried to assert that Space Marine was non-generic and was their IP. They got slapped down IIRC. Hence the need to wrap everything in non-generic names. They also don't want derived content or fan fic diluting their grip on the game.

I don't believe the "GW is trying to get bought out" rumor, but if it were true, it would make sense to have a clear series of trademarks associated with everything in their product line to help improve the book value of their IP.

Finally, just for the record, the new Taurox is awful. I'm used to GW figures getting better over time. This seems like part of a sustained slide for them.

I thought the Imperial Knight meant GW had turned the corner on slump in model quality.

Now I worry it was just a brief upwards blip.....

The stormtroopers look good, at least.

The Taurox would look pretty good with six wheels, or front wheels and longer rear tracks. But it still wouldn’t look like it belonged in the Imperial Guard. With the crazy blue color scheme and iconography they’ve shown it in, it looks like it’s from a planetary governor’s personal army, and it’d also make a good arbites vehicle. Either would be fine, but I can’t picture it in the normal Imperial Guard!

Well the Taurox ist for Imperia lGuard who can also take a Chimera. The Taurox Prime is for the Scions only.
I thas a specia lrule which makes it less prone to break down in difficult terrain than the Chimera.

I can't post the photo of the new Wyvern, too big for the forum.

A mortar armed Hydra!! Stats for these Blacklegion bitte!!!

Armoured Vehicle 12/10/10, 2 twin linked Stormshard cannons (Heavy 2, barrage, IC, S4, PF6, 48").

Perhaps a 5+ AV, with 30cm 2xAP5+ IC, IF ?? or 1BP IC??

Looks like a 2BP Gryphon with Ignore Cover. Yep a Gryphon on Steroids based on the new Hyrdra kit.

I'd abstract it away as an upgrade to the gryphon formation

Eh, since it's two guard mortars with a larger blast radius (Str 4 Ap 6 5" template) I actually read it as a tank-mounted quad-launcher, perhaps with ignore cover.

The Wyvern has 2 twin-linked mortars, each firing 2 shots, for 4 blast markers per turn. It also only uses the small blast marker, but does have Shred (re-roll failed wounds). It's seriously nasty vs any kind of horde, but not particularly good vs things like space marines.
I don't know how to best represent that in Epic stats.

Personally I'd probably just stick with the Griffon. The Wyvern has only been added because they've dumped the Griffon from the guard book (it's now Forgeworld rules only).

If it's just like a Quad Mortar/Thudd Gun, give it At4+AT6+, Indirect Fire, Ignore Cover.

If it deserves to use the blast template in Epic, perhaps an upgrade for a Griffon: just give it Ignore Cover and done.

Since the vehicles look like MRAPs or some sort of wheeled armored vehicles. May I suggested using toy hummers from hot wheel and matchboxes instead? You would use the count as rules. You could use the regular hummers for troop transport. The antii-tank humvee for fire support or scouts. They have a support one for the command units. They also have some swat team vehicles that look like MRAPs that would have. They have a wheeled armored vehicle toy called armored recon vehicle that i can use as my tank like support, kind of looks like a wheeled toy. For my artillery support. i took some of the epic scale thudd guns, which I see them as towed field howizters, and mounted them on a hot wheel toy called the Terrainic, which resembled an military transport. The French have a self propelled artillery called Cesar that follows this same concept. Dollar General sale a toy pack with four vehicles, a wheeled APC, a helicopter, a truck, and a missile boat of a $1. I used the APC as a scout/troop transport, the helicopter as an armed scout subsitute for the vulture, The truck as a heaquarter/commmand vehlcle.
