Well, until recently we had the second largest GW store in the world. But let's get back to playtesting people!

Who is currently playtesting or is willing to continue while I figure out a long term solution? What do you need? What are your major concerns?

I'm not currently playtesting Cadians (concentrating on Orks at the moment) but I've playtested the following new formations & units in 6 previous games so far:

- Reg HQ (with Leviathan)
- Whiteshield Company
- Sanctioned Psykers
- Sabre Platforms
- Stormlords
- Tank Platoon
- Cadian Sentinels
- Airbourne Kasrkin
- Marauder Heavy Bomber

All of the above play absolutely fine. I'd say they're all balanced.

All of the formations copied directly from the Steel Legion list (Artillery Platoon for example) seem absolutely fine in this context.

Things I've not played with yet:

- Kasrkin Infantry Company (don't expect it to be a problem though)
- Hellhound Platoon (Got the models, just not tested yet)
- Griffon Platoon (Not got the models together yet)
- Armoured Fist Platoon (I expect it to be fine though as there have never been any complaints on its use in the Minervan list)
- Fortified Position (I'm not sure I'd want to use it in its current form***)
- Marauder Colossus (It looks good, but maybe slightly overpriced)
- Ordinatus Cadia (Got the bitz together to scratchbuild one, just not put it together yet)

After I've tested those areas, I'd basically consider my testing on the list complete and assuming they're okay I'd be happy to recommend it to be Approved (even if I do miss my Warhounds! 'sniff!).

Pleased to hear it.

Any further thoughts on the Fortified Postition? You've indicated a footnote, but there is none.

(If you miss your Warhounds, you should see what I'm working on for myself right now)

Ah, sorry.

My footnote was to be that I think it would perhaps more fit the Cadian style of warfare if they had "bastions" rather than trenchlines.

Something like:

Bastions - 25 points each
Each Bastion may hold 4 infantry units, counts-as Fortifications (See Epic rulebook pg 18), and blocks Line of Sight.

They'd be deployed like fortified positions, with a specified size for the Bastion's footprint (let's say 5cm x 5cm).

How would that differ from a really expensive Bunker? I'm not against the idea, but I'm interested to see what you'd suggest to make it worth differentiating from the generic bunkers.

Alternately they could just be removed. Cadians hanging about in trenchlines irks me. :)

I have this feeling there's been a discussion on this; but I can't remember the comtent. Possibly some worries about using abhumans in close proximity to the EoT?

Let me dig around in some old threads and I'll get back to you.

IIRC it's simply because Ogryns don't naturally live on Cadia.

So although some Cadian armies do end up with Ogryns in their ranks, they aren't part of a "typical" Cadian army in the same way as Psykers aren't part of a "typical" Steel Legion army.

Okay, but when I think about Cadian Armys I allways have Ogryns in mind, beside other stuff of course. Why not implementing an option?

I guess if you want an atypical Cadian army then you can easily use the SL list.

Firstly because a lot of fluff surrounding Cadians is specifically about them not using abhumans normally; the instances where they do use them are brought up mainly to illustratte how unusual it is for them.

Secondly, a variant list like this can't just be "army list X, but with more stuff!". Adding new units or formations means other existing ones need to be taken out to maintain balance. In this case, Ogryns were one of the units removed.

Might just be thick here but I'm not following the Cadian Infantry Company vs Cadian Whiteshield Company thing.
The stats in 1.3 are

Cadian Infantry Company
-One Imperial Guard Commander unit, twelve Imperial Guard units 250 points

Cadian Whiteshield Company (0-1 per Cadian Infantry Company)
-One Imperial Guard Commander unit, twelve Imperial Guard units 200 points

Soooo basically it's just that every other infantry company I can say is white shield and I get it for 50 points less for a 3+ activation instead and perform infantry spam, if so desired?

Way back when (army competition 07 IIRC) I rather dug the defensive (Cadian Defence Force) vs Assault (Cadian Shock Troop) flavors. Whiteshields lacked the mobility of a regular Infantry Company as they lacked dedicated transport. Now it appears there's no mechanized upgrade possible (outside of a stormlord upgrade) for an IC. Is that correct? Could just be that if you want mech infantry then go get bent and use the SL list. :)
