I have some thoughts in the roiling cauldron of chaos that is my mind. Pertinent to them, is there room for a Vulture "Slick"? I'm thinking a Sci-Fi version OH-58 Kiowa Warrior, an observation and spotting aircraft. Now IA1 says Vultures must take options for both hardpoints, but also allows each hardpoint to take "External Fuel Tanks" for free. Thus you could make a Vulture armed with only the chin Heavy Bolter. Everything else would stay the same. My thoughts on the "Slicks" would be to price them similar to Salamanders - 125 pt for four - due to less armament (no Autocannon) but Skimmer, allowing them to avoid CC.

I like the idea SG - though i am a newer player compared to the rest of you guys ;)

Would they have the Scout SA?

I think this would result in more Vultures being used - at the moment i don't see many of these models in use.

They would.

However they are an idea for a variant list; they duplicate the role normally played by Sentinels or Salamanders. I'll post the rest of the comment in the other thread; it's got more relevence there.

The OH-58(and OH-6) was sometimes referred to as a "LOACH" (Light Observation Attack Helicopter) ... A "Slick" was the Lift Ship version of the UH-1 Huey ... "Slick" because it had no external weapons mounts ... Like a gunship ... which was sometimes referred to as a "Gunslinger" ... Just FYI ... ;D

Yeah, I'm aware that "Slicks" were UH-1s without rockets or cannon., so I'm mixing my terminology a bit. However they are "Slick" in the sense of having no external stores, and I couldn't think of a better name. "Loach" isn't bad either, though it too has problems (helicopter?). I really don't want to have to think up a clever acronym myself.

I'm going to play the "It's 38k years from now, meanings change" card now, and be done with it.

Didn't know you were with the 101st, was that before or after your time in the Mech Battallion?

I hear you. One of my current gaming buddies started in the Marines, transfered to the Army, then transfered to the Guard. He's only got a couple years to retirement.
