Playtested a bunch of the proposed Marine rule/army changes vs the proposed Eldar rule/army changes and had quite a good match:

Biel-Tan vs Eldar

I'm starting this thread to address some of the Marine related question raised in the original thread.

Interesting game for sure.

How did the vindicators feel?

I thought the Vindicators were great and, despite their relatively poor showing, my opponent really liked them. ?With the speed increase they can get places and, personally, I find the ignore cover really scary, even on a Double they can hammer targets.

And how would you balance the 1/2 BM against no outnumbering?

In general, it seemed to produce the same results, but the "1/2 MBs" rule allowed for some odd things. ?When the Warhound and Vindicators were intermingled, I fired on the Titan to ensure a "valid" Blast marker (my opponent applauded my "cheeky Eldar cunning) but it felt a little off. ?As well, if two intermingled Marine formations each have a Blast marker when assaulted does each formation round down to zero or are they at "1" together?

Just for ease of use and for heroic fluff, I like the "Never outnumbered only vastly outnumbered" variant the best, it just feels more Space Marine.

As to Marine leader removing 2BM a go, I really like it!

I like you batrep Chroma, an interesting choice of units. I have been using Vindicators at the new speed for months and have found them very effective. I used the Comd Removes Two BM the other day and found that it had a dramatic effect on the game, most ofrmations where rallying and ended up with no BM left at all. I think this one is overpowered and that the other suggestion of only being outnumbered if it is 2:1 or more is better. Thanks for sharing

I strongly agree here with Chroma's points. I favor the 2BM for leaders because quite a few of the SM infantry formations start out fairly small (i.e. 4 units) and if they are to have a use in the game in the later stages, it is important that they do so without the handicap of BM's as much as possible.
