Well,

After reading through everthing again I have come up with a short list of ideas for possible changes.

1. Vindicator

The most common thought on this is an increase in speed to 25cm, surprise surprise. With minor comment on weapon changes.

2. Dreadnaughts

Quite allot of dicussion went into the dreads with the common topics of:
             a. Dread Formation

             b. Upgrade Venerable Dread

             c. Weapon Upgrade/Variations

             d. Limit formation numbers 0-1/0-2?

             e. Change Dread from AV to Inf?

3. Attack Bikes

Again pretty straight forward with an increwase in speed to match normal bikes.

4. Characters

Librarian featured with a possible change to give them a AA attack. I think that this can be addressed in the Character post here.

5. Weapon Changes for Tacs/Devs

Plenty of discussion about adding the Multi-melta to the Tac or Dev stands. I like the idea, change the stats line for the two models to the same as the Dreads stat lines, ie X weapon type or Y weapon type. I think that this needs to be moved to its own post to allow further discussion and for some playtest results to emerge. I am also for mixing they two weapon types on a Dev stand, giving it botha ranged and a MW attack as the Devs should have to represent the diversity of weapons available to them.

So who is going to write to FW and plead with them to make a marine with a multi-melta. Not a multi part marine though, single piece is fine.

For Cybershadow, what is the chance of getting a vote board, similar to the painting comp boards,up for the above proposed to give some stats to the ERC on popular thought?

Cheers from me

Now to unpack my EA collection and get back into it.

One oddity i have registered troday: Why can't the Devastators Detachment get Vindicators, but the Assault Detachment can?
Ah Vindicator is les effektive in CC than even a Tactical stand and its FF is equal to a Tactical stand. What are they supposed to do in an Assault Detachment? They would better fit in the Devastator Detachment.

Hi, I just had a few thoughts on this subject.  Firstly I think that the current transport options for the dreads is good but allowing normal LRs to transport them would be helpful though expensive.  Adding other LR varients might be nice for alternate lists but the main list should allow for easy access to the units available in it.

Which brings me to my other point.  The alternate stats for Multimelta armed Tactical and Devistators.  This is a great idea for an alternate list, with an appropriate conversion article, (Salamanders anyone?)  But I don't think it will work in the main list, especially as the differences in the models would be minimal , it would be difficult to tell what was what on the table top.

I do like the idea for the Salamanders being different, given the following stats for their units(the FF attacks are changed to take into account the increased firepower of the MW attacks this should allow the units to stay at the same price):
Tacs: CC4+, FF5+, Multimelta, range 15cm, 5+MW, Smallarms MW

Devs: CC5+, FF4+, Multimelta, range 15cm, 5+MW, Smallarms MW

On another note:  Many comments have been made about the inability of SMs to take on large WEs, particularly large armies of them.  Many ideas have been thrown around.  Anyways here's a new one, or at least one I have not seen before:

Change the states of the Battlebarge to:

Orbital Bombardment, 8BP, MW
Pin Point Attack, 3BP, MW (TK(1)?)

and the Stike Cruiser to:

Orbital Bombardment, 3BP, MW
Pin Point Attack, 1(2?)BP, MW (TK(1)?)

The bombardment cannons on the SM ships are designed specifically for use against ground targets.  Of every army in Epic the SMs are the ones most tied to their ships, orbital support should be a pretty common sight and I think that this would help, also I think that the current price of the SM ships is sufficient for the above stats.

Interesting idea ship wise.

Squared,

Great idea about the Orbital support. Add a new topic in here AA and lets see what sort of support it gets. It fits in with the fluff and will fill a much needed support role. I am willing to playtest this sort of stuff.

Cheers

I like the orbital support idea.

I have now build some tactical marines with multi-melta.

Here the command squad:

That's not a squat! That's a squat!

:p

I suspect the whole formation should be 'one or the other' not simply each stand, so it'd be quite easy for you to say to your opponent 'Oh, btw, just in case you're confused, these are this and those are that'.

The article itself oould regard Salamanders in style, but the rules themselves should really apply to most. It's simply that Salamanders use them *almost* exclusively.
