Having played against eldar twice today I can safely say the one thing the SM miss is a Titan killer

They have one, it's called a Warlord... ;) :D

I'm going to guess you went up against Revenants or Phantoms here, right?

Or Terminators.

This is often a point that newer players make, there's a few threads out there on it too :)in short the answer is to play to the SM strengths of air assault, and ignore the big things if possible!

also a list is often better defined by what it can't do than what it can, in my opinionn

I had zero trouble beating up revenants with terminators, if you're smart you hide behind one and avoid the support fire of the other..... a warlock is a different story of course... ;)

It was a Phantom, I couldn't make a scratch on it. Still won both games just by avoiding it. In the first I already had Blitz and capture the flag. Decided as we had a turn to go I would take on the Phantom. 2 units of Termies, supported by predators and land raider. Only managed to remove 2 DC :(

Its an intentional weakness in the list. Concentrate in using your strengths to avoid the big fella, and selectively destroy everything else, then grab objectives to win without touching the titan.

I did, but I would prefer to beat the Titan into the ground :) it just seems odd that a small band of super soldiers don't have access to Titan killers

not really, they are great at surgical strikes and not so hot when massively outgunned....it's why they have titan allies to take the big stuff on.....

if you're honest, marines aren't likely to take down something like a phantom/warlock/gargant, but they excel at picking the rest of the army off and winning through mobility

True. I played as the dark angels too so could take allies. But I did rip the rest of his army to bits. Eldar have great weapons but their armour and saves of their normal troops are rubbish. It was a battle that my whirlwinds won for me!

Phantoms aren't particularly vulnerable to TK anyway. No, what you want is Predator Annihilators. Assuming you have enough activations (never a given against Eldar) you can double them over, strip off a DC or two, and gamble on winning the strategy roll next turn. Then they can sustain fire and make it roll some holofield saves.

Or you could just throw an air assault at it. Whatever gets hits on it.

Also with marines, crossfire should be a given! Holofields get the same penalty and AFAIK no eldar stuff has TRA....

Bad idea, intentional weakness.

Crossfire the Phantom, it'd get -1 to it's holofield save that way.
