Actually BL, just ignore me. ::) I realise now that TRC has the Drop pods as the standard way of buying them i.e replacing rhinos whereas you have them as a specific option to buy (albeit free). I'll just use TRCs method of listing them if that's ok? Saves on page space ;)

Nothing to see here... move along :D

One other question though, why do Salamander Attack bikes get Walker?

They do? Hmm iirc that was from old discussion of improving the Assault Bikes to match they usefulness to generic Bikes in the Codex Space Marine list.
Iirc in the end only the speed was increased to match the Bike`s speed?

In short: Salamanders Attack Bikes are identical to regular Attack Bikes with the exeption thatthey switch the Heavy Bolter for a Multi-melta and FF 4+.

Just checking: In 1.13.1 Salamanders Attack Bikes get NO Walker but Multi-melta and FF4+

I would like to test Storm Talons and Storm Eagles with the Salamanders.
If you use these aircrafts you can't use Imperial Navy formations.
Storm Eagles and Storm Talons fill the same 25% allowance slot as Imperial Navy Aircrafts.

Use this stats:

Space Marine Storm Talon Gunship
Type Speed Armour CloseCombat Firefight
Aircraft Fighter 5+ n/a n/a
Weapon Range Firepower Notes
Twin Assault Cannon 15cm AP4+/AT4+/AA4+ Forward Arc
Twin Heavy Bolter 30cm AP4+/AA5+ Fixed Forward Arc

Formation of 2 for 200pts.

Salamanders Storm Eagle Assault Gunship
Type Speed Armour CloseCombat Firefight
Aircraft Bomber 4+ 6+ 5+
Weapon Range Firepower Notes
Twin Multi-melta 15cm MW4+ and Fixed Forward Arc
Small Arms Macro-weapon, Fixed Forward Arc
Vengeance Launcher 45cm AP4+/AA5+ Fixed Forward Arc
2 x Twin Lascannon 45cm AT4+/AA4+ Fixed Forward Arc

Notes: Reinforced Armour, Planetfall, Transport (may carry four of the following units: Space Marine Tactical, Devastator & Assault units, Salamanders Terminator, Tactical & Devastator units. Salamanders Terminators take up two spaces each). The Multi-melta can shoot and be used to confer the macro-weapon ability to the unit's firefight value. A Storm Eagle formation counts as a single War Engine for transport purposes.

Formation of 2 for 350pts.

Please can we try the Talons with the following stat-line

Twin Assault Cannon 15cm AP4+/AT4+/AA5+ Forward Arc

We really need to avoid setting the precedent of AA4+ on fighters / Fighter-bombers. The issue is not the 0.3 extra, but the fact that this will inevitably be used by subsequent development.
(The Helltalons need to be reduced for exactly the same reason)

As i have no problem with AA4+ it will stay. For now.

I opened a thread on this very topic here:

You should probably swap the autocannon on your Predator Incinerator to ether a Flamestorm Cannon or a Magna-Melta.

Burn Baby Burn! ;D

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/D ... ERNUS.html

Quote:
The Deimos Pattern Predator Infernus is an ancient pattern of Predator believed to date back to the hallowed days of the Great Crusade, which has now largely been replaced by the Land Raider Redeemer in many Chapters. The Crimson Fists, Fire Lords and Subjugators, among others, still value its close-range firepower when combating such xenos hordes as Orks, and in particular it is seeing resurgence amongst those Chapters confronting the Tyranid menace.

Certain ancient data sources speculate that the Predator Infernus was an attempt to replicate the Baal Predator STC, stubbornly held by the honoured Blood Angels and their successors, and the same conjectural sources imply the superiority of this latter design in terms of speed, armour and armament. The Machine Cult of Mars’ gall at the Blood Angels’ refusal to release this precious relic is widely known, and so the Infernus boasts a fearsome armament in the form of a turret-mounted Flamestorm cannon, often replaced with the anti-armour potency of a Magna-melta, a devastating weapon originally intended for void-war boarding actions. Regardless of turret loadout, the Infernus is usually additionally equipped with sponson-mounted heavy bolters or heavy flamers.

Stats (will replace the Salamanders Predator Incinerator with a price increase):

Salamanders Predator Infernus
Type Speed Armour CloseCombat Firefight
Armoured Vehicle 30cm 4+ 6+ 4+
Weapon Range Firepower Notes
Flamestorm Cannon 15cm AP3+ Ignore Cover
2 x Heavy Flamer 15cm AP4+ Ignore Cover
and (15cm) Small Arms Ignore Cover

Notes: The Heavy Flamers can shoot and be used to confer the Ignore Cover ability to the unit’s
firefight value.

Salamanders Predator Infernus
Type Speed Armour CloseCombat Firefight
Armoured Vehicle 30cm 4+ 6+ 4+
Weapon Range Firepower Notes
Magna-melta 15cm MW4+ Macro-weapon
and (15cm) Small Arms Macro-weapon
2 x Heavy Flamer 15cm AP4+ Ignore Cover
and (15cm) Small Arms Ignore Cover

Notes: The Heavy Flamers can shoot and be used to confer the Ignore Cover ability to the unit’s
firefight value. The Magna-melta can shoot and be used to confer the Macro-weapon ability to the unit’s

BL,

Any idea when these updates/new units will be incl in the salamanders list?

I'm keen to start using the infernus.
Will you be going with both options our just one. Magma melta version is no doubt more useful IMO.

Cheers

As it is rather quiet here about these units i would guess: never.

Hey BL we have another set of stats for the Storm Talon in the Iron Hands list that so far play pretty well. Might be something for us to work together on to approach parity with the lists. I expect however that the typhoon option is not needed in sallies or should be a large price difference due to the list wide restrictions / negatives on fun toys that the IH have for balance.
