Chris, your ref sheets has the wrong spaceships in it. Not that I wouldn't mid replacing the strike cruiser with the normal cruiser!

Arg, why God, why?

Actually it seems to have both, pure lazy cut and pasting on my part!

I'll make it easy - 2000 to 5000, with added value for 3000 :)

Because of the barrage table BP weapons don't scale linearly.  Having the ability to have anywhere from 1 to 6 BP for the same cost-per-BP is inviting min-maxing.  I feel pretty strongly that the Helios should be bought in defined quantities where that can be controlled more closely, e.g. a formation of 4 for 450.

Has the Prometheus' combined assault been used much?  I only played a couple games with it and never used a combined assault, then I stopped taking it.  I'm not sure that this is the list to highlight an expanded Commander range.  Salamanders are light on activations due to formation cost, and they have better FF and arty than Codex which allow them to intermingle with less risk.

===

For a stripped down potential EpicUK version...

Cut the Helios upgrade.  It causes too many "if-then" decisions in army selection.  Give a set number/points as above.

Possibly the Helios altogether.

Cut the Prometheus. It's not needed.

The Land Raider Prometheus is an invention of the Salamanders. It would be wrong to not include it.

This isn't an "everything Salamanders" list.  It's a "this is how Salamanders prefer to fight" list.

If it serves no practical purpose and it junks up the list with an unnecessary special rule, I don't care how fluffy it is.

True. It's an "everything Salamanders" AND "this is how Salamanders prefer to fight" list.

BTW: I tend to use the Prometheus often. But only used it's special ability once and for good effect.

I would have thought the min max points were 1 and 4 and they should be costed for those two 'sweet spots'. Still its  minor thing and currently can only be a 0-2 upgrade for a formation (unless you go into the silly terminator helios formation :) ) so the '4' shouldn't occur.

Twice! Once usefully, once because I just wanted too. It wasn't the best choice both times :)

I use it as a distinctive command tank. It would be a shame to cut it, from the point of view that I can make them really easily with my spare thunderhawk heavy bolters :)

But yes, cutting would have next to no impact on the list.

It comes down I guess to do your main changes convey the flavour enough? The LR varients were primarily to reinforce the artificer, slower, more resolute approach rather than any in game need.

4 twin heavy bolters works great with Space Marines though :)

So the Salamanders went to the trouble of creating the Prometheus even though they don't really like it that much?

That's a lousy argument, and you know it.  :p

Personally, I think the LR Prometheus is flavorful, interesting, and has some real potential in the right circumstances.  Of course, I haven't played the list.

The Prometheus enhances the ground-based theme of the list, IMO.
