No TRCs Caliban Predator MkIIIc had a turret mounted Autocannon and Plasma Cannons in the sponsons.
SO basically a Predator Destructor which swaps the Heavy Bolters for Plasma Cannons.

He invented it because there are lots of old E40k era Predators with plasma sponsons around.

A Plasma turret is as out of the question as an Inferno Gun turret for the Salamanders. They too have "only" Heavy Flamer sponsons.

Well poop then. I guess we can add a lame Autocannon variant but I'm not too keen on the idea if were still stuck with Plasma Slow Firing mathematics.

So:
Land Speeder Tempest
Type Speed Armour CloseCombat Firefight
Light Vehicle 35cm 4+ 6+ 5+
Weapon Range Firepower Notes
Tempest Missile Launcher 45cm AP4+/AT5+ - [i[and[/i]
30cm AA6+ -
Assault Cannon 30cm AP5+/AT5+ -

Notes: Skimmer.

Upgrade: Replace any Land Speeder for one Land Speeder Tempest each: +25pts each.

Well that's damn funny. 30cm AA on a 45cm gun? Who does that?!? Why not 45cm? So I assume we want only one per formation right? Your wording kinda makes me wonder if you want more? So will add this to the 2 Hunter option? Yes?

It's because ground weapons substract 15cm from their weapon range.
I just copy-pasted the Raven Guard stats.
Tempest Upgrade only for Ravenwing Support formation (the all Land Speeder one).
All other formations will have to do with up to 2 Hunters.

You should make the tempest upgrade more expensive otherwise it completely overshadows the typhoon. It is clearly better, having better shooting and an AA shot as well. The R.Guard list made it 35 points. As an upgrade to non-landspeeder formations as it replaces a Land Speeder they are 75 points each.

No to the Ravenwing Assault (or is it really Attack in the english Codex?) as they already have "upgraded" Land Speeders. And we would have two different points values for the Tempest if we would allow it. KISS :)

I'm fairly certain its Attack? lol. We English speakers are simple I guess lol.

I think we be ok with 25 in the DA list since there are no Typhoon's. Also it would be the only non 25 point item which I don't really prefer. I'd rather got 2 for 75 if there a real issue having it 25.

Plus the Support formation can be all Tornadoes so we would be upgrading an upgrade already?

KISS indeed - LS tempest AA fits the theme+style of the RG but doesn't for the DA. Its just an unecessary extra feature - and will also male one less reason to take marine formations

So you rather see 50 point Hunter and 2 for 75? Then seeing another AA option? I don't see how a Land Speeder is unDA.

BL and Dobbsy? What do you guys think? Cheaper Hunter or Tempest Trial?

If priced appropriatley it shouldn't lead to tempest spam as the tempest is not a particularly good AA platform. Though Steve54 may be right is it really necessary for a DA list to have them?
