I don't think that I was aggressive enough with my teleports and ended up coming half hearted at the Marines.

One positive side was the stupidly large number of saves the formation of 4 Monoliths made.

Not for this game. It was a Space Marine list with something like the following:

Terminators + Chaplain (BTS)
Thunderhawk

Rebasing a bunch of my infantry and skimmers. Been pushed back in queue to finish up my Warmaster Skaven and Deathguard forces that are very near completion. Should get a few more battle reports in soon.

hey guys, anyone know why the immortals took a hit against the regular list? normally cc 4+ but dropped to 5+ in Sautekh

I believe that was done around version 0.2 as they were over performing as a group of solely immortals compared to being just an upgrade to the warrior formation in the approved list.

Yes mainly that.
It was percieved that they needed some toning down and to have a weakness. (CC5+ is actually not all that bad in epic though).

Also I believed they had recieved to high a stat in the original list. They actually have the exact same CC capabilities in 40k as the warriors do and their 40k stats hardly justifies a 4+ CC in epic (which is a good stat for any assault attacks)

To my knowledge CC means different things in epic and 40k though. CC in epic, as far as I'm aware, is "CQB" (<5m or so) as well as the 40k CC of braining each other with rifle butts and powerfists. So if the Immortals had significant short range firepower they'd get a decent CC score (see tactical marines f the example who IIRC only pip the necron warrior of 3rd ed 40k with 1 point of Initiative in the base stats yet tactical stands get CC 4+ too

Units being representive of their 40k incarnations is always good, but it should always take a back seat to balance and functionality. Always open to play testing feedback though. Have you had a chance to take the list for a spin? Certainly need some more diverse play testing on the list.

That's fantastic! I would very much appreciate some more battle reports. Really only need to test the Tesserac Vault and the Tomb Blades more. Other than that I'm thinking of doing away with the broken portal giving blastmarkers as it doesn't seem to really make much difference and I'd prefer to drop any rule additions I can. Would be very pleased to get some more outside input.

It's important for oldCrons which are just terribly unfunny to play against. I was.under.the assumption the portal rules would stay the same between thrm, no?

At the moment there are a few differences;

OLD-cron Portals:
-Enter play from reserves
-Leave play into reserves
-Jump between portals

-The formation using the portal gets one blast marker for using the portal of a broken formation. (eg Necron warriors going on to the board from reserves through a formation of monoliths that are broken get one blast marker. NEW-cron Portals:
-Enter play from reserves
-Jump between portals
-Cannot go back into reserves via portals

(eg Necron warriors going on to the board from reserves through a formation of monoliths that are broken get one blast marker. Like wise if they jump between they could possibly get two in the both the portals they enter and leave are both in formations that are broken)


These changes were implemented in an effort to provide some benefits from breaking a formation with portals (eg monoliths) and to remove the ability for Necrons to hide damaged formations off the board.

As for implementing the changes to both lists that was the plan starting with the blast marker for broken formations addition to the OLD-crons but I've had the rule variation up for over a year in the play testing changes thread http://www.taccmd.tacticalwargames.net/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=24555 and no one seems to care to test them.

Maybe I'll redouble my efforts to get this back in and ditch the NEW-cron portal limiotations preventing them from going back into reserves. That would also be an option to keep them the same between the two lists.

I intend to play the Sautekh list sometime next year- I'm slowly building up an army.

I like the current Sautekh portals more than the Oldcron ones- the blast marker for broken portals is a good idea, as otherwise the near-immortal portal vehicles are just too annoying. Similarly I don't like units going back into reserve- if something is broken it should be able to get followed and hammered, especially in a regenerating army like Necrons. Having a 'get out of jail free' card just feels kind of dirty to me.
Right now these are just baseless on-paper opinions, but it's why I'm aiming to collect Sautekh rather than Oldcrons.
