I agree with you first two points, LordA (you'll notice that I actually did go with one shot for the Exterminator, as well as 90cm range!). 5+ LM will probably be better for a unit of support weapons as well.

For the organization, I'm thinking that the Heat Cannon looks to be the main weapon of the formation, while the others are specialized (close defense and AA). You could take a formation of Death Rays if you want, but if the range stays at 15cm it's going to be awkward to use.

Thinking a bit more on the Death Ray, should it simply be a demolisher cannon, ie one shot at 30cm? Probably replace Ignore Cover with 3+AT, so AP3+/AT3+, no special. In that case it gets harder to balance against the Heat Cannon, as the effects will be very similar.

Maybe just drop the Death Ray completely and go with Heat Cannon (30cm, 2x MW5+) as the main gun and the Exterminator (90cm AT5+/AA5+) as a flak upgrade.

are you giving them teleport?
is so a bonus to FF attacks one MIGHT be worth it, but even then.... iffy at best.

but if not , yes, I think just having 2 with heat as the main and gauss as a upgrade would be good.

Hadn't planned to give them teleport. It's a defensive list, teleport should be limited.

Version 0.2 (changes in bold)

Sentry Pylon Network: Four Sentry Pylons with Heat Cannons, 250 points
Add up to two Sentry Pylons for +50 points each
Up to two Sentry Pylons may be armed with Gauss Exterminators

Speed+Armour\CC\FF\Notes
10cm\5+\-\5+\Living Metal, Fearless, Walker

Weapon\Range\Firepower
Heat Cannon\30cm\2x MW5+
Gauss Exterminator\90cm\AT5+/AA5+

Also, I'm thinking 25 points for Particle Flail platforms, about the cost of a Warrior.

A little late to the party, I guess. :)

No teleport? They have the option of teleport matrix in 40k. They will only ever be used as blitz guards without it (if you don't plan for them to be able to garrison). Not saying they should it have just wanted to hear your reasoning.

I would probably have chosen the firepower for the heat cannon you suggested Ulrik, with 1x MW4+ but the difference is rather small so doesn't really matter. just my 0,02$

cheers

It's the Tomb World list, they can all garrison. I'm considering adding a separate "deep strike" formation, probably with death rays, but I'm not sure that the list needs it.

Hmm, with Walker they can use portals. Good or bad?

Or, err, unless they get No Phase Out they kinda have to be able to portal don't they :P

I'd prefer teleport or "No phase out" then, I don't think these machines should be able to use portals

I would not put walker on them.

I just thought about one thing. Shouldn't the heat cannon give MW in an assault as well? No extra attacks just giving it MW for it's basic FF attack.

Had an idea for this list. Since you have now added the sentry pylons. Wouldn't the tomb Stalker (and/or Tomb sentinel?) be appropriate as well? It's described as guarding the tombs.

Not a bad idea. Unlike the Sentry Pylons it doesn't fill a niche I think the army needs, but thematically it fits.

At a quick glance I'm thinking it looks Trygon-sized, so a DC2 war engine. Stats are about the same (T7 W5 vs T6 W6). Is the Monstrous Creature rule on a DC2 critter in itself enough to give it a CC MW attack? Comparing it to a Trygon (which it closely resembles) it looks less dangerous in CC, so maybe two attacks at 3+ instead of 2 + EA MW at 4+. Something like this:

Name\Speed\Save\CC\FF\Notes

Tomb Stalker\25cm\5+\3+\6+\Living Metal, DC2, Fearless, Tunneler, Critical: Destroyed

Basically a Necron Trygon.

Tomb Sentinel looks interesting, though. Exile Cannon could be 15cm MW4+ TK(1) AND SA, EA+1, TK(1), CC6+\FF5+. Or something. Not sure about the correct FF value and if it wants an EA or just straight up two TK shots, or maybe it's MW in assaults... 3 or 4 of these popping up from Tunneling could be deeply scary. Maybe too scary.

Oh right! Forgot those.

Incidentally, why AV? They look very comparable to Trygons?

Yeah I'd probably also say DC2, Trygon size.

On the sentinel:
If 6" then I'd say assault weapon. It's ranged 12" however so I think I'd also give it small arms, but without extra attacks. Reading how it works I'd probably give it TK as well. That's two TK attacks in a FF, not bad at all. +1 attack would be a bit much.

It has rampage and is a monstrous creature so should probably be a little better in CC, 5+ perhaps? FF5+ is probably right.
