I agree that a general portals category is sensible rather than specific types for different units. Remember, the portals in the old 40k necron list didn't work exactly like those in the epic list either, but they were changed to be closer to the webway style mechanic that already existed.

Night Scythes don`t work as regular transports as they are aircrafts. They aren't even WarEngines.
If we lump the Eternity Gate and the Wormhole Gate together (would also keep Night Scythe formations small) to keep the current Portal rule i still suggest to introduce the Dolmen Gate as this seems the Necrons primary means of Faster-Than-Light travel.

Then they need a rule in the notes, that their transported units aren`t destroyed if the Night Scythe gets shot down. The formation can still disembark (and leave then units behind which don`t fit "in" all Night Scythes, so count as destroyed) or enter the board with other means.

dosnt that seem a little bit too complicated for some thing so simple? wouldn't it be easier to change the unit instead of change the rules?

Then Night Scythes need to use the normal Portal rules too as the "transpoted" units aren't really inside the Night Scythes. Would also solve the formation cohesion problem if the Night Scythes remain an independent formation instead of dedicated transports.
As well as i like the three different Portal mechanics, if the majority wants it more simple then we need to maintain the existing Portal rules for all three versions.

i still think that using them as regular transport would work quite well... i know that in 40k "transported" units are not destroyed if the scythe is destroyed (not even deplyed) but for simplification and easier ruling i think its not such a sacrifice...

But they would loose their Aircraft status this way and have to be mere Skimmers wich is just wrong.
