yeah, that's pretty much what happened.

Misjudging that distance was such a noobish mistake on my part.

You two play without pre-measuring?

We've got no official convention against it as far as I know, but it's rarely an issue. It would have been rather complex to pre-measure in this case anyway, as the move required Corey to move about half way down one board edge before he could actually get around my forces.

With a little luck (or an absence of bad luck anyway) we'll get a chance to do some stuff this sunday and see what comes of it.

Anecdotal evidence would at least suggest that the majority of Epic players pre-measure.

Wether or not that would have any effect on your game balance would be questionable to me.

amongst the gaming skills I have always cultivated is the ability to judge distance by eye fairly well.  I'm pretty good at it, and I'm fairly proud of that fact :)

what about your apponents do you mind them pre-measuring? :)

because as an Eldar player not measuring my move-shoot-move and other things while i'm thinking about what i'm going to do would majorly change the way the army works.

Necrons bring the Destroyers through Monolith 2 and shoot at the Guardians, kill two guardians and place three blast markers, remaining close to the Monolith and Obelisks to claim cover.

Actually, since Destroyers are mounted, they can't claim the cover modifier for being in base-to-base with armoured vehicles.

That bonus is a subset of the "Terrain effects" rule, and mounted units are treated as "vehicles" under that rule instead of infantry.

making such mistakes are a part of the fortunes of war.  I don't stop people from Pre-measuring I just don't fill like it's appropriate to do it  myself. :)

Corey doesn't allow premeasuring because Ilushia has 20/200 vision.  He  doesn't let him where his glasses either. :D

Corey also takes naps underneath the Boogie Man's bed.

just throwing an idea out there for the heavy destroyers. since the pylon is the only necron unit that is AA, it becomes quite boring that every army has at least one.

So given that in 40K the heavy destroyer model has that cool targeter thing on its shoulder i propose that instead of changing them to AT4+/AP6+ we should make them AT4+/AA6+, this way the necrons have a re-deployable anti air alternative but it has a short range and only a single shot models which can be avoided, however they could cover units vulnerable to air attacks.

it could work and they are still useful with only a single shot.

I like this idea a lot, it gives a role for heavy destroyers, though even then they're still poo with only one shot.
