They way I built it was 1 part inspired, 2 parts silly. I cut the parts for the hull out of balsa, that was easy. I then pressed these shapes into clay....seemed ok. I then pressed all the detail shapes I wanted into the depressions in the clay....skele heads, various Chaos bits.
Then I cast the parts in resin. All good.
Of course, none of the parts came out a uniform thickness, which lead to the fun of trying to put it all together. In the end I glued up the balsa formers and overlayed the resin sheets over the top. Some minor gaps to fill still 
Will add the barrel from an Ork mega-gargant big lobber to the glacis, 8 or so battle canon barrels around the place and some miniguns. The 4 blobs on the rear decking are missile silo covers....honest.
