@SquadPainter:

That's great, probably the same active ingredient in it!

How are you finding it on stripping plastic in general? I find plastic harder to strip with Fairy than metal.

Steve -

Ha ha! I wish that I was a shill for them, then I'd get a cut of their action and be able to pay for my miniatures addiction. As it is now, I have to budget. Boo!

Super Clean is a pretty good product. And the pictures don't lie.

Oh, and your Ignatz Mouse icon is great! I am a Krazy Kat fan as well.

The plastics strip just as quickly as the metal. You can see it in the Squat infantry. I couldn't scrub them hard even if I wanted to because the laser rifle barrels are so fragile. It is a testament to the paint stripping ability of Super Clean.

The Squats were painted with all sorts of different paints. Some came off easier than others. If I took a stand out of the bath and lightly brushed it with a toothbrush and the paint resisted... I just dropped it back into the bath for another day or two. After that the paint came right off! You can leave miniatures in there for weeks and they won't get ruined.

I've heard good things about Fairy Power, but I have not tried it yet.

Hi!

Super clean is awesome!

I use it for everything, except ungluing metal minis, for which I use acetone.

Another vote for Super Clean here. They've taken off (almost) everything I've asked them to, from Reaver titans through Eldar jetbikes and squat infantry. I had problems with an odd super-matt finished craft paint in ultramarine blue, but otherwise I recommend it above anything else I've tried.

I was under the impression that fairy have changed their 'recipe' and have heard reports that the new stuff doesn't shift paint at all, unlike the old stuff. I'm down to my last half bottle and I have a HUGE bag of ebay orks that I need finish stripping before I run out completely!

To avoid trawling through old data, has anyone (UK based) done any recent purchasing of stripping solutions that can confirm it all works? Trying to clean up (thick) paint from epic plastics and old GW metals and help a friend get started.

I'm using this right now since fairy changed their formula. It's not the cheapest but it works well, smells pretty good and doesn't seem too toxic...

Just a 24h (ish) soak and scrub? Possible to re-use it?

That's about it - you can reuse it I guess. Sort of depends on how much paint you end up taking off with it and how gunky it gets - that's a technical term by the way...

Post subject:  Re: Strippers!!!!

After some advice guys on strippers, I tried painting some space wars troopers, found them so difficult due to the white armour with the black joins on the troopers. tried basing black and then painted the white on the minatures that hid detail, tried painting one white and hand painting the black details and this was a no go also.

The minatures are metal, then i had a brain storm and had a can of radiator paint, i think its enamel based, its gloss white so i though spray the troopers and then just a black wash. it did not work well :{[] luckily i only did the troopers. Any idea on strippers or is this lost cause as the minatures are pretty fragile and will not do well with brushing i think :(
