Post subject:  Achieving the Heresy finish...

Hi folks,

Just wondered whether anyone has any painting tips to achieve the 'coloured metallic' effect in 6mm seen in the various Heresy books ?

Hard to describe well but here is an example:

The plan is to, eventually, raise a Heresy era World Eaters force using the metallic blue and off-white as shown above rather than just painting them blue and white. Perhaps a metallic of the appropriate colour over a silver base?

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Phil

How about a black base, zenithal highlight with leadbelcher or similar, wash with blue ink.

I've seen a number of people use the contrast paints over a metallic silver basecoat to achieve similar results in 28mm. Might be worth experimenting with to see if it works in 6?

Thank you for the replies.

"...Zenithal highlights..." "Que ?" (quick google) "Understanding dawns !"

Interesting idea but will it work with teeny tiny 6mm ?

Contrast paint over silver base sounds a little easier and more practical.

Seriously, I like both ideas and will try them to see which gives the best effect.

Thank you !

Contrast over metallic sounds like your best bet I reckon.

Contrast over silver will be easier for sure. :)
