I'm sooooo in love with the big gribbly. And the Malefactor is nice enough to forgive the slight oversizing

Some really great kitbashing here, shaping up nicely! I like the hierodule in particular. For some reason your work is making me misty eyed for the old Tyranid stuff :)

That's understandable, I've been taking cues from the older stuff!

Ta!

Some more paint has been applied:

The wings on the Harridan came out lovely, but the leathery feel doesn't really show in the first two photos.

The Hive Nests/objective markers are done bar varnishing, with a luscious watermelon feel! The gradient is VGA Dark Green (as per the carapaces on the other models) through to VGA Light Livery Green, followed by a generous helping of Athonian Camoshade in the second photo.

'Run, little lunch, run as fast as you like!'

Yeah, I used NMM techniques on a 6mm infantry model, because I was too lazy to walk upstairs and get some other paints... ::)

Mind if I ask for your recipe for the wings? I'm painting up a few harridans and I'm trying to find a suitable leathery look. Thanks!

White undercoat, Nuln Oil wash, white drybrush to bring the highlights back up (and gives a bit of texture. Then a thinner coat of Vallejo Game Air Leather Brown (with a brush not an airbrush!). I then painted a bit more of the Leather Brown towards the edges, and finally gave it a wash of Agrax Earthshade to pick out the holes and mark the bits by the ribs a bit darker.

Some more Trygons on the way. These are some 28mm Sheehad from Modiphius' Achtung Cthulhu range (https://www.modiphius.net/collections/m ... chthonians):

Image

An OOP forumware Carnifex. Absultuely lovely, but it's eight pieces for a model that's only 18mm high. :-[

Image

Group shot of newly-assembled models. The Harpy proxies are from Dropzone, the upright plastic Rippers will be Zoanthropes and the silver things are PVC bits from China, I think they were supposed to be braziers - but are now going to be Mycetic Spores. The one that's raised up will have exhaust plumes underneath.

Image

Image

Some Hive Nests on the way. I'll build up the level of the ground between the resin bits, and sculpt in some tunnel entrances.

Image

And some uncloaking Lictors, finished off last night. In the background you can see that a bit of ruin has been added to the shorter squidy Trygon so that it can be picked up safely.

'What's that?'

'A dead one of these.'

Two Malefactor transport bug proxies constructed, with some legs for the third one on the way from another gamer...

;D

Now a mass of base landscaping (with plasticine) followed by Vallejo Sandy paste.

Plus something new! Well, old. One of the old Eighties Chaos Familiars with some spare talons from the Carnifexes, for use as a Broodlord:

And bases that will have plastic Gargoyles added later on.

As someone who wants to begin a Tyranid army I am squinting at this one closely, I will have to look up those Dropzone figs.

For some reason Trolltrader are selling the Dropzone stuff under their TTCombat name instead of under Trolltrader, so they took a while to find...

Gargoyles added to the ruin bases, and texture added to the Broodlord's base.
