Post subject:  My epic ork army progress – growing the Waaaagh!
I started my ork army last summer (after finding out Epic was still a thing when I attended the London GT in May to play that other venerable discontinued GW game, Inquisitor).
 
Since then I have amassed about 10k points of orks and painted around 4k by now. It’s still the main project on my painting table alongside a little necromunda and the occasional fantasy model (usually also orcs!) so I hope there will be plenty more epic orks to follow soon. 
 
I went with a fairly conservative style with a lot of one colour, a rather military green, as I wanted to give the impression that these orks are copying Imperial Guard methods of organisation. As such, I have a lot of the more tank-like lungbursta gunwagons and some of Vanguards lovely little 3mm skinner tank horde standing in for 6mm grot tanks, for which they seem the perfect size. 
 
Bonus fact, I have two similar armies for 40k – one with all grots and one which is a proxy imperial guard army with all grot models which can be seen here:

This was the full army a couple of months ago when I hit 3000 painted points, I've not taken a more recent pic since I painted up more gunwagons and new stompas, supastompas and stormboyz. But I will soon!Image

Fantastic work - not a colour you see often for Orks but it works really well!
I guess they would be Blood Axe tribe or similar? :)

Yes green and green is a lot of green!

My personal lore for them is that they are a rebel grot army. Their leader, a grot and former Mek's assistant, built his own suit of mega-armour in secret and when it was finished killed his Mek master and led his grot followers into an abandoned imperial manufactorum and got to work on his own forces. He built the grot tanks in my 40k ork army, then the tanks of the Imperial guard 40k army after many battles, before getting his hands on his own krooza and heading off into the galaxy as an independent warboss with a sizable army of orks (who don't know he's a grot in a big metal suit) and plenty of tanks.

That's a really cool background piece - love it!

Are you planning to expand beyond 3000pts or staying at that size?

Thanks. I've got about 7k of unpainted orks still go go, so the finished army will continue to grow for quite a while. I'll have some more painted units to post soon.

Saw these on FB, great to see them here too! Loving the fluff and style of the army, the old gibletgrinda and spleenrippa models match really well with the newer style gunforts :)

Two new landas and eight deffkoptas. The landas are based on micromachines chinook models with plenty of bitz added.
