Not personally no. It wasn't an option when I first started printing stuff (I only have 20 odd models printed) and FUD seems detailed enough. I think the Extreme is meant to be very slightly less fragile but I don't know how much so or it's worth the extra cost.

I did pretty well with my unusual artillery horde tyranid list at the tournament in London this weekend. It can fire 16 barrage templates of disrupt indirect per turn and seems a good list :)

Thanks but nah those are units - they're Hive Nests. Bit bigger than normal for a 3DC WE but maybe they're hollow or fragile or soimething. Tyranid Capillary Towers can grow all the way up to space from a planet so the size is reasonable backgroundwise.

The Hormaguants mostly aren't glued on yet but I thought I'd mock up a stand as a test of my new oval bases. I like the look :) Much of the in game advantages of a wide base while getting the nice organic curves. I am so ignoring the 3-7 infantry per base rule (there are 13 on this one) to get the horde look but I can't see anyone objecting as it makes no game difference.

The looks of it are more important no?

Exact nunbers will vary from base to base as some will have scenery or Blood Angels on them too but probably around this many on average.

Thread necromancy... I can has paint!

I love, love, love contrast paint for Epic models. My revised scheme makes it feasible to paint them in a reasonable time, which helps when I throw the basing number rules out of the window and base up to 20 on a base. I’m particularly pleased with the Brute Swarm; Carnifex stands look badass with 3 to a base and I plan to paint up 6 bases of 3. Most of the spore mines have fallen off and aren't in the photo but will be glued back to have 3-4 to a base.

It's still WIP but I think I have around 2k done once a small amount of touch ups and varnishing is done :)
