Hey Apologist - long time no speak! How are things with you, what are you up to hobbywise these days?

Have been on a foray into the dark ages and ww2, before unearthing some of these 6mm bad boys - have to say really enjoying painting them up, although definitely a strain on the eyes!

I've now managed to complete a tactical detachment, and have added a command team (inc. a Champion).
I'll probably add some support squads in the form of flamer guys at some point.

Is it just me, or are those old school Rhinos really tiny?

It's not just you. They've always been undersized even compared to the original GW plastic marines. Next to the bulkier Novan Elites the difference is even more pronounced.

three pics from the game last night. (and a question)

Final stages:

The Orks got quite the hammering, partially due to some (initially very) lucky Terminators deep striking in the midst of the largest Ork Mob.
In the end they got killed but the mob was mauled, had lots of blast markers and after that it got shot to pieces.

What seems clear to me is that the Ork player had too few activations and some rather large units.
What would you lot recommend fielding at 3k for Orks? With the different unit size options it is hard (seemingly) which size is 'best' for an Ork.
Example:
Smaller blitz brigades seem *very* fragile. Larger ones make you lose the activation game.

What do we miss?

tl;dr.
Sample 3k Ork list pretty please. :)

[edit]; made a separate thread about this question.

Wow - have to say that looks like an amazing game !

Really cool terrain setup, really colourful. Is it some type of PVC or rubber matt you are using (and 8' x 4' size?)

The mat is from Deep Cut Studio. 6*4 rubber mouse mat material.
Bit pricey but worth it. (but I might be biased ;) )

Thanks.. I think I will try and get one of those, it does look really good!

Do any of the Dropzone Commander buildings scale OK for epic? There are a great deal of quite good wooden kits about at the moment I've noticed.

What might be really, really cool, is having some absolutely massive points game on a 12' table, and then have half city, half grass plains or similar. Have a true apocalypse! :)

I received a sample of some of the 3mm miniatures in with a recent Vanguard order, which was rather nice of them.

Honestly I almost didn't see them, they are so small! I'm stunned how much detail you can fit on 3mm.
Anyway, I stuck them on a SAGA fatigue token for a base, and painted them up as some Blood Angels
