Say that ten times fast.

I've read a lot here have done a lot of stuff with magnets for their mini's, things like giving titans interchangeable weapons (Had a look through Primarch's guide).

But I was curious how small can you actually get with adding magnets? I was thinking about my razorbacks which come with two turret types ... would it even be possible? And if so, anyone have a guide to how they did it? What kind of magnets you need, etc?

1/16 x 1/32" rounds here, I believe. I used a pin head in the Farseer.

These would likely work with the Razorbacks. I'm planning on using the same thing for Falcons/Fireprisms.

Yeah Razorback turrets would be easy! I pick up magnets in bulk on ebay, there's a very wide selection of shapes and sizes. I have cylinder shaped magnets as small as 1mm x 1mm, allowing for really teeny-tiny magnetising (though I haven't found a use for these really tiny ones yet).

If you just buy a drill bit of the same diameter as the magnet you'd drill out the two bits to the appropriate depth and glue each in. Make sure you get your magnets aligned the same way around on your models as I once glued one in the wrong way around and had to cut it back out, so I check more carefully these days.

I use a 3 magnets stacked on top of each other (the middle a tall magnet at maybe 4-5mm) in my Reaver titan shoulders - so that I can have a choice of arm weapons and either shoulder pad tops or carapace multi-lasers on top.

I'm now magnetising all my bases so I can transport my armies inside a metal box rather than using foam or bubblewrap. 2 x 1 mm discs are what I use most of for this, one of these sunk into the underside will be enough for most stands.

I think just sheer practicality dictates that 1mm x 1mm is as small as you can go. Those things are so light that you can breathe them in if you aren't careful. Definitely never happened here though.

An absolute bugger to find cheaply.

Bought a bunch of 2mm x 1mm off Ebay for cheap, see how they do. Now I just need to get some new modelling tools after wearing out most of my old ones.

Sorry, further more what sort of tool(s) do you use for creating magnet holes? A I'm abit weary of taking an electric drill to a miniature, I've used pin vices before, but most of them seem to small.

I use pin vices myself. I've got a really good set of drills for about any size in my collection. You should be fine provided you get the appropriate sized bits.
