A few months ago I began reading an article series by Scutarri. His introduction to Epic Armageddon and quick painting guide made me dig out the rule book from storage and take another look.

I had tried reading it several times, each time really excited by the prospect of formations of tiny dudes, tanks and air support. unfortunately, something about the rules never clicked with me. I just didn't get them.

This time was different. Soon i had put in a £70ish order with Vanguard Minis, grabbing a start to a Space Marine force from their Novan Elite range.

I've decided to paint the army up as Hawk Lords, something distinctive on the table and a bit of interesting fluff.

Here is what I have painted up so far, a Bulwark Assault Transport (to stand in for a Thunderhawk) and some Assault troops to go inside.





Next up on the Painting table, 12 landspeeders, and the beginnings of some Terrain!

Love the Hawk Lord's (enough that I even wrote a fan list once for giggles). So cool to see them get a showing as an actual painted force. So cool!

Here's last nights progress 12 Landspeeders from Vanguard Minis. 2 squads of 5 with various combos possible.





I've decided to pick out the helmets in various colours blood angels style to make each unit stand out a little bit.

Yellow= Assault
Blue = Devestator
Red = Pilot/Vehicle Crew
White/Gold = Veterans

In other new I am now the owner of 30 plastic Rhinos. More then enough for the Hawk Lords at the moment. I think I will use some as conversion bodies for Predators, Whirlwinds and other Vehicles.

Great stuff. Anyone who gets away with that colour must be badass . Good call on the helmets. Making units stand out is aesthetically pleasing as well as good gaming manors.

Yeah good call on the helmets. Sometimes going off the strict fluff is needed for that extra bit of color and flavor to make them pop. Well done
