Sure you'll heard that joke. So I've got a bottle of Simple Green and ready to soak some of the painted figures I just received to hopefully strip the paint. Most avenues suggest I soak them in Simple Green and than use a toothbrush to scrub away the paint off, but given the size of 6mm miniatures I feel maybe I need a more delicate brushing tool. Anybody else done this and have suggestion for what to use on epic stuff? |

I wouldn't think you'd need a "a more delicate" brush. Once the paint is softened, it doesn't take much pressure to get it off, just a little abrasion. So no need for a different brush, just don't press hard. |

Best result I ever achieved stripping plastic minis was using Bartoline Clean Spirit (from wilkinsons in the UK, no idea if available elsewhere) soaking for 24 hours, then two 8-minute programs in an ultrasonic cleaning bath filled with more clean spirit, after rinsing under the tap they ended up looking like they were fresh off the sprue, zero toothbrush required

Huh, wasn't quite sure I wanted to invest in a sonic bath, maybe if I get into mass stripping later. |

They arent terribly expensive and are also fantastic for cleaning brushes, but you certainly dont need one to get great results |

FWIW I use an old toothbrush on epic plastics and its normally fine though I get the occasional gun breakage |

I've successfully stripped 1st and 2nd ed. Eldar Guardians and Swooping Hawks with a bath of Dettol antiseptic (I'm guessing that's much the same as Simple Green) for ~24 hours, a quick caress with the toothbrush just to move the already lifted paint, another 24 hours in the Dettol, final quick brush and rinse. It doesn't require any pressure from the brush at all and no danger of marking the plastic with the bristles or anything. |

Hoping it will loosen infantry off bases to, some of them are a bit of a quagmire of superglue and severed feet. |

It works to release superglued models but if they're poly cemented into the bases I'm still looking for something to shift the cement, although with the way the cement works I highly doubt anything short of a Stanley knife will help |

yeah if plastic models are poly cemented on, that's basically a weld your best bet is to cut the base away and hope that there is a bubble under the model, even if not with careful use of a sturdy knife you can get almost all the base off, I did this to hundreds of the old style chaos marines early last year, not much fun, lots of time, but with care I didn't break a single one, and they are all now rebased fine |

Well, limited success so far, some paint seemed to strip away, while others didn't move (been about ...just under 36 hours?) which I'm guessing may mean these aren't the usual model paints. |
