That's why we're playing a 20k game...You just can't have too many Feral Orks.

So one Scorpion is nearing completion (pics tomorrow, hopefully). However, what are people's thoughts on doing "black wings", i.e. something like this:

I think it'll break up the orange but the army will be lurking dangerously close to "Halloween themed Eldar".

I think it will look good. A bigger model like the scorpion will benefit from having the orange broken up a bit by a contrasting colour. Black is a good choice in my opinion.

Are you open to trying it with a dark grey? It could help break up the model, which is a sound choice, but may lessen the "Great Pumpkin Craftworld" vibe.

I think Dave's eldar will forever be known as the "Great Pumpkin Elves."

You could also do white rather than black or instead of painting blocks of black, use it for eldari thorns or racing stripes.

Personally I'd go for a very dark (navy) style blue to break from Halloween theme but hell, that works too!

I highlighted and shaded one of the Scorpions to completion this week to start to figure out how I'm going to paint these colors. I'm pretty happy with the blue-ish grey weapons and the canopy/gems but I'm not quite there on the orange and black. The orange was highlighted with Troll Slayer and Lugganath, I think I want to try those again though as the highlights aren't stark enough for me. Thoughts? Same for the black, that was Eshin Grey followed by Dawnstone.

Image

The one panel I left orange is for a transfer I hope to print out. I finish it up once I lay that down.

Image

Any other thoughts on improving the colors or adding accents?

Agree that the highlights on the orange could be crisper to stand out more. The orange and black is striking, but is defeinitely edging into Halloween Eldar territory.

I don't mind the orange and black, I think it's a nice combination, doesn't feel halloweeny to me :)

I think some harsher edge highlights on the panels and perhaps some black lining between them would help it really pop, looks great though :)

Yeah I'm with Kyuss. Not halloweenie whatsoever.

Yes you can make those edges really strong to really make it pop

I'd probably even go up to pure white right on the edges of the black.... a really really thin edge
